Well as Renault own a fair whack of Nissan, what would you expect? I can't help but look at the current Maxima and see French styling.

I know but there are lots of other companies like that which keep very separate styling and only share platforms, some parts and engineering expertise.

The Tiida and Clio 3 (as well as Modus & Logan) share the same platform. I reckon that is the reason the Clio 3 is taking so long to get to AUS, it would be difficult to launch the new Tiida nameplate as well as the new Clio at the same time. I'd say the Clio 3 would be priced at a slight premium to the Tiida. They are probably trying to establish the Tiida first and launch the Clio later.

Ii'm led to beliieve that iit iis iincrediibly popular in Iiceland, Iiran and Chiina, but have trouble selliing in England and Germany.

Ii can't iimagiine what the iissue iis wiith iits lack of populariity iin the last two iindependenciies.

I'm not convinced by it from what I've seen so far. They have taken all the features out of it to make it cheap for Australia, and put shoddy skinny little wheels on it.

It has no ABS on the base model for instance, and a lap only belt in centre rear - a bit poorly I reckon. Looks alright though (thanks Renault)!

I agree, when I saw the features I thought that it was a bit skimpy and mean with only a lap belt and no ABS.

I agree that it looks like a Renault, all you need to do is wack a Renault badge on it, but according to a report in the local rag on the weekend, Nissan say it does not share any panels or exterior features with the clio!
    Cheers Renomad

I also saw it at the motor show and it looked ok. Dont really like European styling i prefer european. Lets hope the Clio does better than it. The Clio interior is out of this world.

Something just occurred to me. If they put out the Tiida SSS that would make it (almost) phonetically, the Nissan Tight Arse

Perhaps they should rename it the Maxiima and bring out an SSS version as well. Might explain some of the drivers?

with the commercial vans over here, the only difference is the badge between the Nissan and Renault vans... they're even called the same thing... same badging on the side of the van and everything... although... it could just be an owner messing with my mind and swapping the front badge...

I saw a Tiida last week in the metal, I think maybe the 'French' influence is a good thing. Sure beats basing the exterior styling on a shoebox with wheels as they seem to have done so often in the past

The thing that worries me though is the name of it; its something like a misspelled punctuation character!

    Makes you wonder if other manufacturers will follow suit with their competing models? We may soon see;

The Holden Astrarisk (which is just a rebadged Opel Elipsys),
    The Ford Karet,
    The Toyota Parenthersis,
    Hyundai Hyfen,
    and the New VW Kolon.

    Worriesome stuff indeed.

    Priceless
Gotta wonder where a name like that came from- "Dear Aunt Tiida....."

Interesting how current model Primeras have some resemblance to an R12 though.
