    Default NRMA Motorfest 2006

    Went along today

Lots more froggies this year, though still not a lot. I think Renault had the biggest turnout, with some very nice 4CVs there (at least I think they were 4CVs...) a 15, a 10 or two, a 4 and I think something else.

Citroen managed to produce 2 SMs, 3 Ds, and a 2CV

    Peugeot managed (so far as I could see) a 203, a 204, 2 403s (1 ute, 1 wagon), and a 404 sedan.

Simca managed 2 Arondes and something else with Beaulieu on the side (I apologise, they may be some car, that Simca, but I don't know them very well!). At any rate it was also at the French Car Day last year, and looks very much like a 60s American thing with big wings at the back and the like.

I enjoyed myself, at any rate, and got to cruise home in a warmed up V6 XM

Did anyone else pop in for a look?

Yeah I was there today having a look round - great day out, the NRMA sure does spend quite a bit of money making it a really good day for everyone!

All the Citroens looked great - That blue colour on that DS is amazing, The Cream ID19 was there - shipped to France for the DS 50 Year Jubilee! SM's were awesome - they are sure one awesome looking car. Not many Peugeots really considering that the 504 could be entered into the display (I still havent seen one yet at Motorfest) Saw the 404 sedan, 403 Ute and the Various 203's. Renault had the largest turnout of all the Marques with a few 750's, R10, 2 R8's, a R15, R4 (?), and probably some others which I cant remember right now. Only 3 Simcas from memory?

Anyways once again a top day out!

I spent about three hours there. It seemed better laid out than 2005, but the mood overall "flatter". Favourite car there wasn't French so I won't discuss it further A lot of foot traffic in parts, and the city was festering with cops.

Overall, I got much more buzz out of Eastern Creek, in terms of recent events. Would have loved to see an SM stretching out there!

    Cheers, Adam.

That 2CV's a nice one. Looks like some sort of custom body, anybody know who did it?

The SM is a beauty. I've never been a fan of those US style headlights though.

The 2CV is technically an AMI6, but don't tell anyone. Besides, an AMI6 is technically a 2CV once naked. It is called a Hoffman http://www.citrobe.org/hofflnks.htm

And is owned by a CCC NSW member.

STALLED, "cream"??? That is BUTTERCUP. The one the only the legendary......

The metallic blue DS is the one featured in the park for last year's special DS 50th (on the stand near to where the bands were last year).

Personally I think Motorfest is getting way too big for where it is. There seems to be way to many of some models and they overcrowd all the rest. The human crowds are getting much larger and it is very busy. I think they would be better to put ceilings on the numbers of cars and the numbers of cars entered from a club.

I was also appalled at the complete disregard for other people's cars there. NON car people were touching the cars, leaning on them and I even saw people putting their kids onto cars for photo ops - that is sitting them on the wings etc

I would think twice about ever entering a car in Motorfest now. (coming from someone who has a rather ratty looking D at present - but hey it GOES!!!)

A Hoffman, I should have thought of that, I have seen Zykyra's Hoffman plenty of times.

People are so thoughtless these days.

It was certainly well crowded this year (with a large number of people walking through at warp speed with no regard for anything there) but I actually thought the car numbers were more well-balanced this year between makes, than the last 2-3 years I have been. Gone were the row upon row of Minis and Falcons, for example, with a much more modest number from a wider selection of marques.

It's funny how everyone's impressions are slightly different

Anyway, my photos of the day are here. See if anyone can guess all the different cars

Highlight of the day for me was this beauty:

Nice lot of cars. Love the Lancia's especially the Fulvia Zagato. The rims off the HF would look good on it. Neat looking Fiat 128.

The renault turn out was pretty good.

    2x 4cv
    1x R8
    2x R10
    1XR10S
    2X Dauphine
    1x R15
    1X R4

We also had a Pug 404 and Austin Healey join us (the AH owned by one of the fellows who owns a 4CV).

I took along the R8 and one of the white R10's, both my cars came away pretty unscathed but it is a concern as the crowds were pretty big and not necessarily all there because they are car fans!
Luckily we were tucked away on a corner and near the NRMA stand which helped spread the crowd a bit.

I was very impressed with the Renault turn out, as I haven't observed many on previous Motorfests.

A lot classier than the Escorts you were parked next to (not that there is anything wrong with Escorts...).
