Default Car Trailer required for AF BBQ

Sorry to start a new thread, but i think i needed a bit more visability!

Unfortunately Road Runner wont be rego'd, so short of driving it unregistered i'll need to get it towed there!

The car is living at East Ryde, so its a 5min drive to get to/from the BBQ.

Does anyone have a trailer to put poor little Road Runner on?
I've also got a tow bar & i could pick up a trailer if needed on the morning. (& returned that nite)

    Cheers

Does NSW have a permit system for short term/ special purpose rego?

It'll be more fun to drive than tow! Here you can get a permit to drive an unregistered vehicle for just one day if needed.

I doubt NSW would have such provisions.

NSW does have such a system however you have to have the car inspected for Road Worthy prior to getting an unregistered permit.

Do you have trade plates up there, if you know someone (say, with a Frog car workshop) who might be able to help.

That makes sense... Where is the need for the permit then? I was under the impression the permit was intended to allow you to drive an unregistered vehicle to its roadworthy test.

The vic system rocks though - i drove my unregistered 205 on a permit for three weeks, (to work mainly) and got breath tested three times. Once the police saw the paperwork they couldn't care less where i was going. I think i got my $66 worth out of that permit...

Nathan, I've rented car trailers from petrol stations, the last one cost me $45 bucks but that was for 1/2 day. Consider that option. - Chris

You were lucky, police that do the breatho's appear to care about nothing ... other than the breatho's.... It's a $500+++ fine for driving an unregistered car if it's anywhere other than the most direct possible route to the repairers & Vicroads. I know personally several people that have been 'done' for driving unregistered cars on a permit in Victoria. Seriously ... DON'T DO IT ... If there was actually any police on the roads in Victoria they would have done you in a big way if they'd caught you driving the car to work & back My wifes shitty old Escort was driven in a round-about way to a booked Roadworthy test (he went 15kms out of his way to pick up a friend on the way).... even though he had a booked apointment he was still booked $500+++ for driving an unregistered car.
