Icon6 This will save my back - new toy

Should make rebuilding the 16V a bit easier on the back:

Should go nicely with the engine crane etc

Did you give up on trying to get your father to buy those tools too For years I tried to con him into getting an engine crane & stand ... Ended up buying them myself, the only difference in my engine stand clamps to the legs of the crane (ie: doesn't have it's own wheels).

Dad already had the crane So all I needed was the stand

Now just to pull a bloody engine out to put on it

On another note I dusted off the GT today to drive while the 16V is under the knife, I had forgotten what low rpm torque is!!! What a monster!! I'll have to ease up if I don't want to get new tyres by next week

They look like some seriously high ramps you have too... Not to mention a small hammer for 'gentle encouragement'.

    that's not a hammer

i never use ramps i just jack the car up and use some 18" dia lumps of tree wood to stick under the car

saves trying to drive up 'em and they are good and solid (not that any ramps i have made aren't solid as i'd trust anything i weld up)

I'll give you a flat Citroen to jack up

First trick ... how the bloody hell do I get a jack under it

All I used for years was big lumps of wood too... I've upgraded to 6ton axle stands in recent times.

I would rather put my trust [and life] in the lumps of wood.

    too easy

stick the engine crane in and lift her up then stick the jack under and lift her the rest of the way up and shove the wood in

ok so maybe i have had a few too many but it's worth a try
