07:30 pm DOCUMENTARY SERIES - TOP GEAR

Top Gear is a high octane mix of performance cars, adrenalin, comedy and celebrities. It's the BBC motoring magazine that test drives and brutally appraises the world's most popular cars with startling honesty, along with celebrity laps, irreverent wraps and breathtaking stunts and driving. In this episode, the Aussie Holden Monaro is tested against the best of British and American car technology on a Welsh beach. Along with car tests and comparisons, news and reviews, Top Gear features well-known celebrities trying for the fastest lap on the race track. With its three presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond being egged on by a studio audience, Top Gear is an entertaining car show that features the latest and fastest cars. Looks like it's Season 5 to me...

Aired in the UK on October 24 last year - and with their blurb it looks like it will be the full hour show!

The ice cream truck and bouncy castles in this episode cracked me up
Murray : And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool!
James Hunt: Well that should put them out then!

If memory serves me right, Top Gear starts tonight on SBS.
I seem to remember it being advertised after Mythbusters
last week as "next Monday". I know I got all excited

Just checked the TV program, Not tonight....

    cheers,

It is a great segment. Nothing like seeing expensive V8s doing circle work on a beach. Don't envy whoever has to clean all the sand off the cars, though I imagine the convertable segment in Iceland's volcanic ash produced a worse result.

When you watch this episode you will realise the enourmous gap in program budgets between Top Gear and Drive. Airlifting in a Jag in an RAF Hercules?? Pure gold.

If it is the episode I saw, it's the "new" "Vauxhaul" Monaro CV8.

Jeremy Clarkson calls it a "redback Funnel Web" somthing or rather....

That is ONE of the Top Gear episodes featureing the Monaro, they have done atleast 2, maybe 3 shows on the Monaro. I have seen 2, one with a hotted up yellow CV8 and the one you just posted, there is also a 3rd episode too apparently.

That one was cool, but it's a bit lame testing the cars on a beach. The show when Jeremy clarkson takes the monaro out onto the track is quite funny, he throws in his own take on aussie slang the whole time he is sliding it around the race track.

Had a laugh with the Monaro doinig the track test, Clarkson whacks his mullet into the door frame at speed when he got out of shape while acting the hoon. The camera operator stayed with the shot and the co hosts insisted on several action replays, the sound track made me think about wearing a helmet while driving.

The most recent episode is pretty sensational. Seeing Hammond scrape the front guard of a Pagani Zonda F while attempting to exit a hotel in Paris is one of the most excruciating moments I've experienced watching TV!

Jeremy gets a few slipped discs in his back which he blames on spending too much time sideways in a Monaro. Thats why the current season is only 8 espisodes.

I watched the first two episodes of top gear from series 7 and to tell you the truth they were pretty average. Im finding that Fifth gear is more entertaining and much more impartial when it comes to car reviews.........

That wasn't the Monaro, it was the MG XPOWER SV.

Ditto - Although the 3 supercar run to the "bridge" was pretty amazing - Had me in stitches when the hamster (white teeth boy) was trying to get the Zonda out of the carpark. Seriously funny stuff!

Last night's episode was brilliant - had me in stitches all the way thru that 10k supercar segment.

How good was the race between the mountain biker and the new clio?

Looking forward to next week - Bugatti Vs Light plane & capt slow!
