    Default Rego cost survey

Just got the old Fuego through rego for another year and thought I might do a comparison from different states on the costs involved. When I first started driving 20+ years ago Qld was always the cheapest for rego and from what I remember you could register just about anything with wheels and an engine down in SA. Now days Qld seems to be well above NSW price wise (my wifes Audi $535 NSW, $642 QLD) at least for anything over a 4 cyl. The Fuego just cost $545 for 12 months including Rego, CTP (probably could have saved $50 if it was comp insured) and inspection costs. I'd be interested to know what everyone else is paying.

How many of the states require an annual inspection ? I know some only need it when you sell a car.

    Icon1 SA registration Costs

    SA

Citroen XM (4 cyl) $550 for 12 months including compulsary third party bodily insuarance and emergency services levy. My car has premium plates (the slimline ones) but I don't this alters the cost of rego.

No roadworthy inspections except when registering an interstate vehicle for the first time.

    regards

    Hi Guys,

I thought our cars were really expensive to register. From memory last time around (Dec 04, jan 05) was $460 with 3rd party injury insurance.

Both the CX 2500 GTi turbo and Xantia are the same (infact I'm sure every car I've insured has been the same as others regardless of power/size Then again I've never had anything bigger than a 4cylinder ).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure mine was about that in 04, but there was a sizeable jump in 05...

Jeez, Dec/Jan...couldn't think of a worse time to have the Rego due...

Then again. that's one way to stop the wife draining the savings accout at Xmas time ....

my greenslip (CTP) cost me $400 on my 206 (NRMA gave me $100 off the price since my house is insured with them, otherwise would have been $500)

Pink slip is the usual $38

Although most 206 owners wouldn't have to worry about pink slips yet , I just have the original MY99 build 206 so I need a pink slip now

Bloody hell .... $460 to $500 in one year Gee's let's see my pay went up by 3% this year ...... Pitty every other expense appears to be increasing by about 20%

It'd be to bad if you wanted to drive a cheap environmently friendly car as a 2nd car ...... Simply wouldn't be worth it financially unless your existing car has a 460 big block V8 in it

Shane, are you including the $80 saving in insurance living in Ballarat compared to 'the big smoke'?

My rego and insurance is due on my birthday (which was last Monday), so here's my whack:

    Rego Fee: $164.50
TAC Premium inc 28.18 GST: $310.00
Insurance duty: $31.00 (which is a tax on a tax, bastards!)
    Total: $505.50

My comprehensive insurance (which is not part of the rego, but hey it was at the same time and it hurt) set me back another $560 for agreed value $20,700. I made rating 1 for life this year, even though I scraped my parents car a couple of months back. Sweet.

    thanks,
    Andrew
