Hey guys I've just joined up. My name is Glen. I've just purchased a '82 505srd turbo diesel (auto god damn it!). I bought this for a test car ($400!) for the bio diesel that my father and I have been making. We didn't want to put it in his Patrol in case it wasn't good enough so something was needed. As it turns out the 505 isn't that far from rwc so I plan to have it on the road in the very near future. I took it for a drive (with plates unregistered etc ) and found it drives great, runs awesome and used sfa fuel!

Anyway I have a s1 RX7 12at that I used to run at the BAC Winton sprints, another 13b motor in a mates Mazda 1300 (259rwhp), various Pulsars/Exas and even a few Escorts laying around- I'm on a farm! and my Datto1600. Oh thats how I found this forum, a guy from Ausrotary recomended it.

My father has restored a few vintage Dodges and still has a Renault Floride sitting in the shed, in resonable order- we'll get to it one day.

Ive also done the Diploma of Engineering-Motorsports at Wodonga TAFE and part of the advance diploma.

As for the biodiesel, a mate of mine was involved/lead the team that made biodiesel for the Sydney olympics so he has helped us out there. So far we've made about 100l. and it seems to work fine. (apart from the 1st 20l which was a bit hard to start)

I'll probably be browsing the forum a bit from now on.

Welcome Glen - so your another Aussie Frogger makin that moonshine biodiesel!

& good luck too with your turbo 505, I think you will grow very attached to it as they are a very comfortable 'country car'.

I am intersted to know what you are using as your base 'bio' ingredient ( I dont suppose you have many fish&chip shops &/or Macca's up your way??)

    Hey Glen,

sounds like you were born with grease beneath your fingernails and just the sort of fella we like around here, knowledgeable from experience and training.

There are a bunch of guys around here talking up bio-d and plenty into pug diesels for any other info you might need.

Is your old man still into early Dodges? we know a guy building a racer, heaven knows why, from a late fifties phoenix and he's always on the lookout for parts.

So who you looking to go racing with, V8 supercars, rally, open wheelers, sound really interesting, tell us more man, tell us more.

    Welcome to Aussiefrogs

    cheers ed ge

Welcome Sev - keep us informed on how the bio goes.

(ed ge, I think the Phoenix was first on the market in '60 - might be wrong).

    Cheers

Welcome Sev. Just out of interest, how did Ausrotary know about our beloved forum? I'm puzzled as to why they would have known of its' existence, let alone recommended it! The Aussie Frogs stickers must be really helping to share the knowledge!

    Default Welcome and enjoy

Sound like you have the ideal place to store a few Fuego's as well along with that Floride.

Benalla is a great place good climate etc, have spent a bit of time out at the old airfield from time to time.

If you need help to encourage Dad to get the Floride back on the road, I'm sure the Renault boys will set you on the right path

    Welcome.

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

First off, at the moment I'm getting old oil from a place in Mansfield atm, but always looking for more suppliers! Still got a few places to look.

The Dodges my father has restored are a 1923 Tourer (4cyl) and a 1926 Dodge coupe (also 4cyl). he also has a 1948 Vauxall on the go and a '75 XB Falcon coupe!

The Floride needs some head work- cam bearings or something. We have new piston, rings, sleeves etc that dad bought before I was born.

As for Ausrotary. I posted up to see if anyone else was making bd and surprise, there was a few that are! Then one of the guys recomended this forum- Saru is his name on Ausrotary.

At the moment I have no interest working for an outright race team. The hours they work leaves me no time for myself. Also the pay isn't all that great. There are plenty of perks but to me they are not enough. I want my own life. I have worked for a major tyre supplier at Rally Aus, a well known F-Ford team in NSW, an F2 team in the ARC, a club car builder and spent a few hours here and there at BJR. I am in no way an expert at anything though!
