    Hey,

Such an awesome day! The amount of people and cars compared to last years FCD was amazing

Some really nice cars there today, did anyone know how the judging went?

In the independant judging they only announced one overall winner (the 304(?) coupe). Previous years they have announced the best of each marque, but this year just the winner, no placegetters or best of marques.

if i dig through my photos i am sure i can find one of the same car from nearly 15 years ago or more

nice car and good to see there but i still prefer the one piece headlight models

i was actually talking to a couple there today about it and comparing the front end to photos of the later one piece headlight coupes and the thought was fairly unanimous on the one piece setups

I prefer the one piece lights too, like the red convertable, but ANY 504 coupe is nice to see anyway.

I took about 300 photos (2816x2112). Once I find a place to host them, I'll upload them all in 1024x768 format and pass on the link. Give me a day or two - damn Optus and its monthly bandwidth limits!

If anyone wants full-size versions of any of the photos, by all means feel free to ask. I'm no pro-photographer (though most pictures turned out quite well), so don't worry, none are for sale - just want to share freely. Also, I tried to photograph everything, but if I missed your car, sorry!

By the way, I had a great time - got to see all sorts of wierd and wonderful stuff I'd never seen before (didn't get many of the cars in my native Canada) - and especially loved the R5s, Bagheera, 304 Cab, and Alpine!

To my way of thinking, there's something about the dual headlight (and also the slanted tail lights...) of the early 504 coupes and cabriolets that makes them look more complete... the single piece lights are just a bit too bland on them.

Marque awards were given much earlier. The CMC judging this year seemed to take a long time.

Best Citroen was the blue DS21 owned by Bill and Greg Bunting of Continental Cars but presented by Barry Lee. Runner up Cit was the blue Light 15 Traction Avant owned by Joe Schembri.

What was with the North American-spec (plus added clear cover) quad round headlights on that gold SM? I much prefered the green SM in the carpark with the 6 front lights (and manual gearbox ).

Edit: BTW, Kyle, I loved your 306 (nice rubber!) - was a bit disappointed to see neither it nor the black 306 GTI win best 306!

Ps. it really didnt help in my determination not to buy another car <!-- / message --><!-- edit note -->

I like the C4 but it doesnt inspire me to buy one. If I could afford another older car I would have one. 2 cars+1 person= extravergant I think.....

Had to be the best year that I've seen. Although I'm a Renault tragic, it was good to see an increasing number of Simcas on display; loved the Simca Vedette V8, pity about the 289 OHV V8 shoehorned in, rather than the original flat head V8-60 though.
But shock, horror!! no R4s and only one R16 turned up; what's happened to them ....probably finally all rusted away I guess.
BTW, August edition of Australian Classic Car has an article on Westralian Mark Bird's R10.

Great day out, guys. Nice to catch up with some familiar faces - and meet others for the first time. Is there an "official" award list? ie best Pug 306, best whatever?

Dont worry, I've got one (yes only one ) of the 604. Plus a few more that I took.

Good to finally meet Gerry (gibgib) I suppose I should have stayed for longer to meet everyone else

BTW AXGT it was I who was the weird guy talking in hushed tones near your car, I was trying to convince my g/f that an AX would be an almost as good club racer as the Swift Mk1. She wouldn't have a bar of it
