Default C4 Opening Brisbane (last night)

Ken W, Sarah and I attended the unveiling of the C4 at Brisbane Citroen last night. Took a few photos (quite crowded there so photos not the best).

Nice to see the dealer throw it open .... openings usually don't happen here, or you have to be a celebrity to be invited (thinking of the 307 launch) ...

    Thanks for the pics.

Looks like a well patronised opening and well worth the dealers effort.

XTC if you feel any better I didn't get an invite to the 307 opening either!

You mean that they actually have launches over here?

I was at Allpikes this morning. Didn't see any C4's.

at least the C4 looks a lot better than the C5

the C5 didn't really kick out as bieng in the normal design range for citroen

the new C6 is something that is very nice but will be a little out of most peoples price range

talking to a cit nut yesterday, he would have bought a C4 if it was 4WD or even waited for the C6 if ti were the same

now he loves the look of the C6 but only having 2 driven wheels it doesn't really suit his work

Hey Troy, I must have just missed you, I was in there @ 9 looking for a C4 as well! Howard said it was meant to be in last Friday but they have 3 on the way. Aside from that the 1st place to see one will probably be Auto Expo next weekend.

I was there about 7.45, I had just dropped in to make sure that my car was booked in to get the passenger seat base replaced (just a issue with the trim), while it was going to get the AP fault looked at. Maybe the C4 will arrive at the end of the week. I'll have to keep a look out.

Had to work last night, so couldn't take advantage of my invitation

But went and had a look at the 3 door today... Mmmmmm Nice.... Although, I'm kinda surprised the VTS doesn't have a 6 speed. It wouldn't be limited by space like the 180 is. That engine and a 6 speed... mmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Default C4 release

I just wish the locals knew how to pronounce the word Citroen properly !

Other than that the bubbles were quite enjoyable, and the white "kidproof" C3 looked a very attractive and saleable item.

Did anyone else notice the C4 front mudguards are plastic...just like those on a Scenic...and a couple were checking to see if the tailgates are plastic ( BX style too ) They don't appear to be.

An attractive modern industrial product, but why do we need all the interesting engine bits swathed in moulded black plastic "dress covers"...is it just fashion or do they serve some function...other than sales?

What happened to the encapsulated engine spaces popular a few years ago that were intended to assist in passing EU drive by noise requirements ?
Are the motors naturally quieter now or have the regs changed ?

We also noticed that the front guard (what there is of it ) is plastic, and the bonnet is aluminium. Good for pedestrians and weight I suppose.

Finally seen a VTS in the flesh & I was right! It looks much, much better in the flesh than in magazines & internet pics. Got a chance to drive it quite hard for about 25mins & I came to the very, very simple conclusion, that I want one! Well built, looks to die for & great handling, seemed quick too, but not as quick as I would have thought with 130kw under the bonnet. Either way I think we are going to see a lot of these things in OZ!

Unfortunatley Mac the C4 VTS (180 engine) only has the performance of a 138 due to the extra couple of hundred kgs it is carrying.

The 307 has plastic front guards also. As for engines the diesels are quieter than past generations.

Aluminium is certainly making a come back, the 407 has guards and bonnet made from it. It must be getting cheaper to use. I recall the first WRX had an aluminium bonnet, but that changed to steel for later models. Does the current Rex have steel or aluminium?

I have heard the aluminium panels can be more difficult for panel beaters to fix. Specialist equipment is required, or so I have heard. It probably won't be as much of a problem if aluminium panels become more popular.

Most panels are replaced, not worth the time or money effort in trying to 'beat' them.

Apparently bonnets are Aluminium so Pedestrians have a better chance when we hit them. They have done quite well in the EuroNCAP ratings. Also they have impact absorbent front bumpers for the same reason - according to Miles Williams.

So the id and DS had it right, back in '56 well half right the bumpers have often given me grief (spesh them over-riders ouch!!)

So did you sign on the dotted line Ken....?
