Icon10 Pepsi Max advert & our cars.

Did anyone catch the Pepsi Max advert on TV last night. He was driving the Peugeot 406 taxi and didging and weaving clios and C3. It was a RHD car so must have been a UK advert.
I must say the quality of Australian adverts is getting slightly better. THis advert was very clever and very european....

    okay found a dl location

    http://www.visit4info.com/siteconten...3191109WML.wmv

that site actually needs you to pay for the dl... but... you can play them for free... but i found you can get around this by getting the file location and copy that in your browser. So you have to have your browser set so it opens windows media player to play it rather than play in the browser. then choose save as... hahahaha pay my butt!

Speaking of frogs in ads, there one on TV & billboards around here featuring 2 X 2CV's.
The green 2CV I'm sure appears at the annual French Car day.

The billboards ads have been around for over a year but the tv ad is new I think.
It's trying to entice us to visit south east QLD country.

    It is a great ad!!

The RHD aspect is somewhat puzzling as the number plates are not UK ones.

This ad is filmed in Spain, simply because of the taxi colors

    Barcelona to be exact

What part of this ad is Australian?

I think he meant that that the quality of the ads shown on Australian TV are getting better.

    Default Got it !

I needed to record 2 TV shows the other night, so the Digital STB did one and the Digital card in the PC did the other (in silent mode it only takes 12% processor power to rip the pure digital stream to HDD - silent mode nothing displays as it's recording)... and what did I find on the PC? ..
    Yep this ad ...
So I'll rip it out and save it. ... one as Full digital quality (can't remember if I was recording the Standard Digital Channel or the High Definition one) and a compressed version for "reasonable" download size.

Just cut it out of the stream and the 29sec ad is 31Mb in DVD format hahahahaha (well, it is a MPEG2, 16:9, 625 line, 25 frame a second, AC3 audio, file ) ...

Me thinks a little compression is needed.

    XTC206,

What do you use to record the stream and what spec is your pc. Using TSReader which can record streams in "Silent" mode my cpu is very low, eg 5% in HD or SD and my pc is only 1.5ghz p4. Let me know if you want any more info....

The overhead is as much a function of the card, than the PC ... I have a Nebula DigiTV .. one of the first digital cards to come out, hence it doesn't have some of the onboard processing power the newer Fusion ones and such have. So on my P4 2.0Ghz (1gb Ram) in silent mode I'm still chewing up around 10-12% processor power. Which isn't too bad really.

Some issues I've had are things like recompression of 16:9 type material for DVD purposes. Nice that Channel 9 are now broadcasting proper full weeks EPG, makes recording a snap.

What software are yo using for editing? I find M2-Edit Pro and TPMGEnc as invaluable.

1 XTC206 so can you record to the PC from the STB and the TV card at the same time?

2 FlaskMPEG is a great re-compression program, i've been using it to shrik dvds and change aspect ratios for some time now..

No I use the Nebula TV card to record onto the PC (then burn to DVD) ... and the Strong 5290 to record everyday type programs I delete .. sometimes I record the same things on both cause I don't know if I'll want to keep it (but that's rare - about 5% of the time) ... Other then recapture off the STB I can't get it onto the PC direct (despite trying to get my PC to recognise the HDD in the STB) .. Need a Topfield with USB2 for that.

I tried it for a while ages ago .. might go back and see what the features are now (early versions were buggy).
