Default The Board is back Up

AussieFrogs is now on a new server...not the server it was meant to be on but that proved too hard for the moment, so expect another interuption to service in the near future when we move it to its new home. This one is a hell of a lot faster than the last one anyway.

Definately a lot quicker here, it was painfully slow on the old server. Good job fellas.

Great! After three days away, I return and hook up just long enough to get a PM (why oh why can't people send e.mails?) and then went to look at a thread and got a message saying 'back soon'...

Shortly after I tried again and got told that the server had been changed and I'd have to wait up to eight hours!

Just promise me that next time you'll do it during my time away, okay?

    Oh, and good work folks.

May I suggest you put the IP of the new server (203.22.132.199) in the message that people get when they're told to wait 8 hours? In my case, I did a web based ping and placed the new IP in my hosts file.

    What does all that mean?

If some means would set things so I could log in, then maybe an automated e.mail should have been sent?

The message said something about my computer having to do something that might take up to eight hours, I don't understand that at all...

I put in new thread without seeing this thread.

I'm in Melbourne on optus cable and it is very very fast, about .75 s pause on loading stuff, so much faster than before

It is real pleasure to use now.

    Thanks....

DNS stands for Domain Name Server / Service.

Its job is to put a name to the IP address of the server, so when my computer looks for "www.aussiefrogs.com" the DNS then replies with the aussiefrogs servers IP address to connect to. (203.22.132.199)

If an IP address was quoted with the 'might take up to 8 hours' message, we could have connected to aussiefrogs directly instead of requiring a DNS. 8 hours is about how long (often longer) it takes to populate all of the DNSs around the world.

    Good job guys.
