    Default French car magazines

    Thank goodness for Aussiefrogs.
VWs, Minis, Ford Escorts and Cortinas, BMW, Mercedes and other makes all seem to have monthly or at least quarterly mags both for classic and current models.
Never seem to see mags for Peugeots, Renaults or Cits.

Westy, PCCV have a monthly newsleter which they used to send to all other PCC's and it includes the "Worm Drive Register" which may be of interest to you. Do a google on "Worm Drive Register" for fun.

I have found the English mag: Performance GTi to be the best mag around. Dunno where you can pick this up in Perth though.

Westy. I may call you Westy?
One of the best French car mags is "Gazoline". Unfortunately if you don't parlez vous it can be hard going. The illustrations and the subject matter, mainly on classics[lots of Simca stuff] is first class.

It's availability in OZ may be another problem. Subscription only?
    It is available "online".

Thanks Wildebeest -you may call me Westy.
Went to newsagency at Booragoon today-they have great range of mags.
Bought MB Classic and saw another great mag Auto Italia.
Have had five 105s and 2 Alfettas. They are still one of my favourites.
Still should be an English language mag for Froggies.

you would think there would be a market for it, with the amount of french car enthusiasts in australia.

a good business idea would ne to go into production, i could learn how to use quark express or page maker if i needed to

Check out the latest copy of "Octane". Front cover pic of the ex Ray Barfield Aston DB3S. There's a memory! Wasn't it a roof iron red when he had it here in Perth ? It's now BRG.
Before anyone gets upset "Octane" has a brief story on a racing Dauphine.
"Auto Italia" Bella magazina. Is Good.

The DB3 brings back many memories. Patsy Hill painted Barfields Log on a big tree that had fallen down off the hairpin at Caversham. Ray put the Aston through a 5 wire fence at this spot-actually the car spent a lot of time off the track.
Years later he would not show the car to anyone and I eventually talked him into letting a friend from Sydney have a look at it. He wanted to buy it and keep it in Australia. It was in chookshed covered in chooks....t, hay and dust and dirt. My friend nearly cried. He refused to even consider an offer. It was eventuallly sold to NZ L.O.L and lasted there a very short time when it was shipped to California. It was later sold for huge bickies. I think it ran 3rd at 12 Hours at Spa or Rheims after Le Mans. It was run by Team Kangaroo from memory. Lex Davidon, David McKay and can't think of third guy at moment but he also married Lex's widow.
Hope I got all that correctly.

Go for it and give it a go. I reckon it wouldn't last too long. One person would buy it, and broadcast the text on AF's so there would be no reason to buy the mag! The effect of a too successful and effective multi-marque bulletin board!

there would be more to it then just learning how to use the right page setting software, you would also need a printing house to back you as well otherwise it would be a waste of time and effort and as you sugested, it would more as likely then not end up on the internet...

Pretty lightweight mag, only took me 20 minutes to read and cost $13-20! It is published in Britain so at least you can read the text.

Westy (from another Westy) .. yes Performance GTi is available here (I've bought one from time to time MtLawley newsagency). It's got a lot of good pictures and heavily on the "performance" and "bling" side of things, but it's great to see soooooooo many French machines in a magazine it for a change. A bit expensive as a regular read IMHO.

Production isn't the issue, i would think coming up with decent articles/content would be quite hard... unless you had columnists/jurnos based in France.

I found some obscure French Car mag in French a few months ago. It was very full on. Resembled a French Hot 4s and Rotaries with way way too much bling.

Stone Free, how do you think the French pronounce "bling"?
Would it be, "blang" with a very nasal 'ang?
As for that GTi magazine I would think twice before I picked it up two years later at the barbers.
