Default Update on Dunlop Direzzas...after rain

I thought I'd post an update on the 195/55 R15 Direzzas after 2000klm's and some rain...finally!

Dry: They have "warmed up" so to speak. Turn in is great, but its the consistent levels of grip in sweepers thats a highlight.Their grip limits are generally too high to exploit on public roads. they are still very quiet and comfortable though, which I wasn't expecting...added bonus. I've fiddled with pressures a bit. Originally running 34 psi front, 32 back. They were a little sloppy on initial turn in, but the ride was very smoooooth. Now I have 36 front, 34 rear...seems to work well. Slightly more "jiggles" through the wheel, but still quiet. But the handling is improved..alot more responsive and secure feeling. Overall, very good. I'm sure there are other gippier tyres out there, however the dunlops have alot of other benefits...so I'm glad I picked them.

Wet: Exceptional......Where I used to get wheelspin on easy takeoff's in the rain...no more! I think this is purely the compound. They just feel stickier in the wet. Cornering is great, a really secure feel, and as yet no real "let go" slipping. I havent pushed them too hard, but I didnt think it wise on new tyres that I dont know yet. The characteristics are the same wet or dry.

The best thing is that they have improved the cars dynamics overall. It kinda highlights how much tyres can influence how a car feels, and how much you enjoy driving it. I figure even if these tyres get bad reviews or good reviews.......I'm happy!

Sounds good mmm...CORNERS. I will have to keep those tires in mind for whenever I need to replace the SX-GT's.

I've actually been thinking about changing over to these Dunlops since reading about it in the "tyres" thread...so its cool to hear some user feedback.

If you dont mind me asking what tyres were you running before the Dunlops...just to get a comparison...?

Hey, no worries. I had Yokohama A539's before. in 205/55 R15. I found this size to be a touch too wide. Had poor feedback and bad tramlining. It was was a shame caus' the car looked tuff with the 205's.
