about 12 months ago Alan posted a handy tip regarding the use of cotton gloves while working on our beloved beasts.
The idea was to use the cotton to keep the hands dry while covering them with disposable rubber gloves , which catch all the dirt and grease, leaving your finger nails and the rest of your pinkies clean as a whistle, yet still allowing you some feel for whatever you are doing.
I have recently come across an even better alternative.
Disposable VINYL gloves. They are much stronger than the rubber ones but are still thin enough so you don't lose feeling in your fingers. You don't need the cotton, and a box of 100 was only $4.00 at Bunnings.
