    Icon13 NB.....Renault France

I sincerely hope Renault management and VDA get a copy of this article.
The glaring problem is the underpowered engine in the Megane. I wonder if the 98kw engine is all that they are allowing to be imported to Australia?
Surely, Euro spec Meganes have a better choice than that.
If not, Renault really need to lift their game a notch or two. Even Peugeot have a higher powered NA engine in their coupe. Surely pride and competition dictates you have to beat Peugeot if you are Renault (bit like Ford v's Holden)
Seriouslty though, you must match or better what the competition offer.

They are all really Cafe Latte cruisers, and fit that purpose perfectly, handling is important, but speedie ??? Not really ever going to be possible in 1.5 tonne Pug/Ren. How can you call the mini a 4 seater ? - but on price v's performance it'll kill the other two.

Yes, but from the sound of it the 98KW is low because it has more low end torque than the Pug. This is what you need in a big heavy car like that. They're not sports cars and that 180 engine doesn't sound like it's a very good match.

The 100kw engine can lack a bit of urge low in the range too which would amke 1.5 tonnes of car a bit hard to lug around.
