    Default Logging Off the Forum

Sorry if this info is elsewhere, I can't find the answer.

I have noticed that if I forget to "log off" then next time I come to the forum I am still logged on (i.e. even if it is days later).

Is there any down side to this (eg, for spyware, viruses, etc) or is it OK?

What is the normal way to use the forum in this respect?

OK - now toss me in the Toad Pond!!!

    Thanks.

When you choose to remain logged on, the Server puts what's called a Cookie on your machine so the next time you come back it knows who you are. There is no problem with this. As a matter of course however you should be running an ad ware program like Adware, it's free and works well to clean your system of unwanted cookies and spyware.

You can just do what I do and un-tick the box next to "remember me" when you log in and you won't have a problem. I have to be very careful because I use AF on heaps of different machines (although somewhat less now I'm not at uni).

When I was at gibgib's in July, I logged into the Admin interface and went searching for an option to have "save username and password" turned off by default (so you would have to tick it to say you wanted to remain logged in at all times) but unfortunately we couldn't find anything like that

But really, what's the likelyhood of another user coming into AF...not much. Just make sure if it's not your pC, when you log on you uncheck "remember me"

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the help, it seems like it is not a security problem. I have got anti-spyware etc, and I like to keep things pretty clean.
    Cheers.
