Default Buying Car from Interstate - How?

Having never bought a car privately, let alone interstate i thought i would ask around for tips/instructions/things to keep in mind.

I'm in sydney and am looking at the possiblity of buying a car interstate (VIC to be specific).

Am i just asking for trouble? Or is there a safe and easy way to get it done without too much hassle?

What things should i be getting the seller to send/fax me before i even consider travelling down to see the car?

What costs are there in transferring the rego to NSW when i get back?

Thicktorians will have their own version of REVS... don't forget to check that out.

Registering in NSW will require a full blue slip inspection and paying lots of money...

Initial registration greenslips for young drivers in NSW are extortionately priced. I think it was about $550 for my stepson (aged 25) to put compulsory third party on his 504 wagon when he registered it...

He's now sold it to an Egyptian, by the way, and bought a Suzuki Swift!
