    Default Motul Lubricants

    Greetings fellow froggers....

Was after feedback or comments on the Motul Range of lubricants.

A friend of mine runs an Autobarn franchise and gives them a huge rap for the money and I know a few WRX drivers use them.

Apparently they have a pretty impressive history of technological firsts in lubricant development (if you are to believe the spin) and supposedly developped the first fully synthetic motor oil in 1971 (seems a long time before Mobil 1 ever arrived on the scene!!!). They also claim to be French but I've never heard of them and from what I can see it comes out of The Phillipines

    See www.motul.com.au

Anyway have been offered some in bulk at a very good price so would be very interested in your comments....

We've got a pretty good connection with Elf & can get some real superb pricing on oils.

Their Excellium GP (full synth) costs about $11 a litre delivered...

I doubt i could ever use anything else now.

Motul is a very decent oil and if you're getting a good price, then go ahead.

Well I can guarantee you that they are French, well they were 40 years ago when I was growing up in downtown Paris anyway...
MOTUL has always been right up there with the more preferred brands in Europe by motor enthusiasts. Actually I am surprised you don't know them. A GOOGLE search would soon remedy that.

    Cheers

I use Motul brake fluid in my MX5 and think it is the best I have ever tried.

    Thanks guys.....

I put some Semi Synth 15W 50 (Power 4100) in the TRI BX (8 valve) yesterday for a trial, did the full engine flush, filter and oil change as well as radiator flush and gearbox oil...(did I metnion plugs?!) so we'll see how things go...

The BX uses very little oil between changes which it gets every 5000k's so over the next few weeks it will be interesting... up until now I have been using Penzoil Semi Synth only because my mechanic uses it also and it's been ok....comes out reasonably clean....

The bottle definitely says made in France... and it comes with those nifty built in pourers... (now why don't all oils come this way) so if nothing else it's more convenient to use!

is it silicon based? i've great results with silicon brake fluid. it lasts longer, non hygroscopic and cheaper in the long run and saves mucking about changing brake fluid every year or two.
