Can't wait to see the images from the drive today

You using a suction mount nate?
Did you get it locally in Aus? Or have to sourced it from overseas?

Its next to the toe hole in the front bumber...

i'll put up a pic of the setup soon...

Just got back from the run, some pretty good footage, but the camera over exposes a bit...

Next step is a good housing (currently have a bare lens! lol) with prolly a sunnies lens to cut down the glare.

Maybe a camera upgrade too, res is only 300 TV lines...

I'll have something up end of week... a best bits if you will

That's some quality video there! Needs to be longer and more garbage trucks and pedestrians dodging out the way. Just like in the real Rendezvous!

I'd love to see how you got it all hooked up. Good work though - maybe Ch 10 will get you doing racecam for the supertaxis.

A small snippet from the Master run on Sunday...
(ran a tad wide on what's now known as Karlos Korner!)

    18minutes of video @ about 1.5gigs
(I'll be DivX'n it down later & putting in some effects etc)

Next is to fix the rig up, put another camera at the rear of the car (i'll be able to switch between while in the cabin) & maybe a third on the speedo/tacho

    Hey Nate,

Looks great - I'd love to see how it's all rigged up etc. Maybe you can get Gemma to do a 101 on how to install a camera rig in your car

Switching between them while driving? Do you have a screen that you can view on? or is it just a switch? Hope it doesnt get too distracting and cause you to run wide on corners.

    Gemma ? 101? huh? :|
There's a viewfinder on the camcorder, which sits on the floor (i'll have pics by the weekend), which i can quickly glance @ from 4ft away & see that the camera is sending pics (its always on, so never a prob) & i can feel for the record button & hear it tickin over (its a '94 sony 8mm) so i know its started to recrod.

I'll just have a switch close by that i can reach & just flip... no need to see the video stream really...

    Pics & details will follow...

    Default New setup!

Well its been a crazy week!

Here's the setup so far, soz about the page but i got no time to format it & make it nice...

Gotta get the bracket to fit it to the car, but its all figured out!

    http://users.bigpond.net.au/nate/camera/camera.html

I'll post some photos of it on the car on sat lunch!!!

Cost is about $65-70 all up (box, cable connectors etc)

The camera i used before was $200 alone! they're now $50 & appear to work heaps better in the dark & should maybe have a better auto exposure setup!

Looks great! Love the sound too. Had a look at all your photos of the camera. Doesnt look too hard to do - If you do get time I'd love to see a bit of a write up on it and a DIY guide. Would make it easier for me to get something together and get some video's of my drives up through the Adelaide Hills.

    yeah no worries mate...

downside is the new $50 camera is pretty crap at day time!
so i gotta go buy another $200 one... (Sony CCD, much better quality, compare to the original vid @ top of thread) to use during the day, but i'll keep the $50 for any nite drives we do!

The Sony also has its own metal case! but best to put it in a box anyway/

I did the box for the Sony one (using dimensions) last nite & it only took me about 1/2hr to get it all sorted... the wiring loom takes a bit (many cables to strip & solder) though... but i can get photos once i get the new camera.
Also mountin it on the RSC is a breeze! thanks to the "Lower Grill" (Thanks Dave!)

Default New camera good for go!

Went all out & got a new camera...
$270, but its SOooo much better quality & the sensitivity is superb!

    Here's the camera:
    http://www.altronics.com.au/cat.asp?...=276&id=S9160A

    Quick video @ nite:
    http://users.bigpond.net.au/nate/nitemini2.avi
    (careful she's 2mb)

New camera is also a bit heavier, but the mounting is still good enuf for it!
    (i'll post pics sometime!)

Hopefully the weather will be better this weekend & i'll go for a nice run again, get some good footage.

Also now running the camcorder off the cars cig lighter, so no more flat batteries!

I know where that one is too
Turning left out of Delhi Road, onto Epping Road then moving to the right lane to turn right into Pittwater Road
