    Default Snow!

Staying in Leura (NSW Blue Mountains) for a few days - looks like I brought the wrong car!

Great Western Highway closed from here to Blackheath.

    Cheers

Another gratuitous white photo. Sun was out earlier, but it's dumping down again now. Radar shows it's just between here and Lithgow.

Are you in Armidale? As you say, no snow there, but still forecast for Guyra & Walcha today & tomorrow - so Guyra may yet live up to it's reputation!

    Cheers

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was about me as that is the colour of my hair (all the brown bits fell out).

Think of it this way, if you wanted to experience the same substance at Thredbo or Perisher, you would have had to pay an entrance fee. My primary years were spent in Oberon where we often experienced snow. The only year that I taught school full time was at Brackendale, 20 miles south of Walcha. Wonderful stuff and still the best material with which to build a snowman.

Let us know when it hits Brisbane and the North, some say it will, but as the "extreme" meteorologist said today these things happen every five years or so, after all it is winter and the Northern Hemisphere has had meters of the stuff in their winter, Just weather after all.

Does look nice though but take care when driving on it..

If we get snow in Brisbane it will give the climate change ferals something to dance about. We locals up here have started carrying bars of soap with us when we go to the CBD in case we are confronted by these dills.

Most snow has now melted, but a few flakes are still falling - may get more tonight. I spoke to a young father (maybe 30 years old) who grew up here, and he said this was the best fall of snow he had ever seen here in the Blue Mts.

The thing that people seem to be missing is that the limit on photo size seems to have been relaxed (for the moment at least). Image size is listed beside photo name.

    Cheers

Not unusual for August, hard on stock but ok if you've got hay. Feel sorry for the farms in NSW that don't have grass. Extra hard if they get cold weather but no rain. Means a good Spring for us in the south.

Sunday's forecast looks like Guyra will live up to its reputation. -3 to 5 degrees, windy, snow above 800m (the town is 1300m elevation).

Oberon gets a max of 2 degrees with rain. Brrr.

A few snowflakes on the windscreen between Guyra and Uralla today. The temp was 4-8C all the way from Glen Innes to Uralla. I became sick of fighting to keep the Renault Master straight in the crosswind and pulled over early for the night.

And the forecasters were right again - it's snowing in Leura for the 2nd day in a row! It started again just before 8 this morning!

It snowed heavily on Friday night then all day and night was a mix of snow, sleet and hail through until about lunchtime yesterday here in Orange. My wife's flight from Sydney was cancelled so she caught the train to Lithgow and I drove down to pick her up. The highway was closed from Bathurst to Lithgow as morons can't drive to conditions. I went the back road out through Tarana and made it around ok. It was snowing the entire way until I got to Lithgow where the sun broke through. A trip that takes 90 minutes ended up taking 3 hours and the same back but it was awesome to see.

This was out near Tarana but the road from Bathurst to Lithgow looked like this the whole way.

Snow all gone by lunch time yesterday. Was fun while it lasted (this is of course from Saturday morning). 406 started instantly when required - not bothered at all by the cold and damp.

    Cheers
