    Default 1.6 petrol engines

    I understand that the Prince engines made up to November 2011 were the series 14 and 18. These engines generally suffered from various maladies relating to valves not being cleaned adequately. If a vehicle had a build date of February 2012, does that necessarily mean that the engine was later than the 18 series.? Does anyone know the vin which provides the answer?

    i might have to settle for an EP6 too, so am interested in any answers.
    Service Box for VIN from one 5008 with warranty start date 7/'13 shows engine no. 10 FJBW 184409, fwiw.

    I don't see why this would not be such a basic and inherent design flaw as to persist across all series...

    This is a problem with all direct injection engines which is why it is suggested to use a very low ash oil.
