Default Gosford Classic Car closure - cars on sale at Lloyds Auction

Lloyds Auctions have an Auctions listed as Gosford Classic Cars Closure and large number of car for auction including couple of froggies, the Red Floride and blue Dauphine Gordini, both of which I believe have been subject of some comment on AF previously.

    The auction -

    The blue Dauphine Gordini

    and the Red Floride

Both have what I thought were reasonable start prices, $1900 for the Dauphine and $2300 for the Floride at the time of this posting,

Some 12 days to run and the red Floride is $13,500. Interesting to see how far it climbs.

The Floride is up to $24,000 with 18 hours to run in the auction.

    The Dauphine Gordini is $6,700.

The Floride is certably starting to get up there. That price should make 59F happy.

This red Floride has a few things to be improved upon and doesn't have a hard top but the auction price says it all. Who wants to buy mine..?

I doubt you'll find too many here prepared to pay that money, no matter how good your car is. Why don't you try the Shannons or Lloyds Auctions if you are serious, although the auction houses aren't shy about taking their portion of the cream.

That Red/Black steering wheel looks to be in pretty good nick, most of the red ones disintegrated early. Makes me wonder if it might be one of my reproductions..

Why did it close? Only ran for about 3-4 years and I'd enjoyed many runs with mates where we included it on our day out. What a pity it's gone.

Info on their website or general press if you google. Essentially the tax office believes they were committing tax evasion by running a car sales business posed as a museum. The owner got jack of arguing with the tax office and threw it all in.

The final price for the Floride was $31,000 and Dauphine Gordini $8,800. Not too shabby price for the Floride
