Default Favourite French Car (Past & Present)

I figured since we had a poll too see what everyones favourite 'non' Frog car was that we really should see which Froggy cars turn everyone on. I have included 20 manufacturers from the past to present. Be a good opportunity for everyone to realise exactly how instrumental France has been in the motoring world since way back when. Perhaps choose your favourite modern Frog & then favourite blast from the past. The French sure no how to make a sexy car & in the Amphicars case, very ugly also. I have bound to have missed a few so feel free to mention any other desirable Froggies from the past. I have also included Hispano Suiza as production commenced in France in 1911 & was by most people considered a French car.

I voted Peugeot, Citroen and Facel Vega.

I love Pugs, but one day I'll have a CX or Xantia... I wouldn't even consider a N/A FWD four cylinder car unless it was a Frenchie.

You don't get '60's era cars much classier than the Facel Vega HK500 and Facel II. Haven't seen any in Australia though - pity. Kind of like the French equivalent of Bristol.

The closest I can come is my 1951 Renault 750. Not quite in the Facel Vega range.......

Thought I'd add this link which has photo's of some of the marques featured just in case you arent sure what they look like. The Simca's, Amilcar, Facel Vega & Clement Bayard are from WA & the rest from the net. Perhaps we can see some more photos of rare froggies added by others also. I will track down my photo's of Bugatti's & Delages etc & add later.

Oh...& yes I have realised that Amphicar is German! They were highly popular in France & many thought it to be "French" in spirit!

Citroen and Peugeot mainly, but I also like the Renault-Alpine machines, especially the Alpine A110.

Damn, I cant make it this w/end for Pug club w/end due to bloody renovating commitments but hopefully I can make the next gathering & give you a drive of the D. A 1hr combo of city & country driving will leave you smitten forever......but dont forget...they havent proven it yet, but I think owning Citroens is a disease!

I think 206GTi & DS would be a great combination!

I don't own anything exotic, but I have friends with Bugattis, Delages and one with a Facel Vega HK500.

I don't imagine I will get my hands on the steering wheel of the Bugatti's anytime soon but I have driven a couple of Delage's. Best would have to be a friends 1920 type CO2. 5 litre 6 cylinders, and at 2200 rpm is doing 60mph.

That is my idea of a decent vintage French car.
