    Default Toll road eTag position...

    G'day,

we have a Latitude, the windscreen has two zones and we believe is 'metalised' or whatever the term is. The outer zone has lots of raised black dots.

    From those with practical experience...

Where does the tag go ? The handbook is not helpful, similarly a couple of dealers that I rang....

We only use the system once a year at most so site testing is not very practical. Which doesn't stop them debiting us for their rubbish vehicle recognition systems miss-identification of trips that aren't ours - it's bad enough to be bordering on harassment.

    thanks,
    Bob

    Hey Bob.
The recommendation from Renault was always up near the mirror in the dotted area as there is no metalisation there.
What it actually is, is something similar to polarization in sunglasses for stopping the UV and heat getting into the car via the large front glass area. Hold your hand under the windscreen anywhere, then hold it under the side glass in bright sunlight, you will feel the difference.
    Also helps protect the dashboards.

Concur. We’ve always run ours (Scenic’s and Laguna) with the eTag in the black dotted area with no troubles.

I third that both our C5s have the normal and the mini size eTag in the dotted area and work until their internal batteries get weak.
Replace the normal size with a mini and worked well over the weekend if Brisbane tolls.
