    Default ESG automatic transmission reliability

    Hi All
Look at purchasing options and it seems all the autos are now the ESG style, we had a DSG in our VW Caddy that cost us $5000 so any comments regarding the ESG transmission is appreciated

Do you mean the Peugeot/Citroen EGS transmission? This is a 6 speed conventional manual box fitted with an electrical/hydraulic clutch and gear changer for very quick changes. It is very different from a VW dual clutch box which has the change preselected. I would drive an EGS as a manual using the paddles. They can change gears automatically, but that isn't always smooth.

    Thanks Seasink
sounds like they are a bit clunky, but ok as far as reliability goes.
We have a C4 Picasso with the Asin auto with performs very well. But I heard the valve body's can go in them, really glad I have a 4007 manual 6speed
