    Nor was OBD or TCP/IP a standard initially. Standards are created when industry issues RFC and everyone collaborates.

    SAE in this case for the basic PIDs. Many/most are unfortunately not covered (private to manufacturer) and frames can be hard to find manufacturer info on. Much has been learned the hard way. The high/low states of the bus are documented.
