Default You heard it here ....

    Interesting perspectives.

A friend is looking for a C5, so I’ve been recommending, and checking out the 2005-2007 HDIs.

We found nice one yesterday being offered by a dealer.
Said dealer had a bevy of cars around: BMW, AMG Benz, Audi, and the obligatory Porsche.
(All of them black, from memory).

So, we discussed cars, and of course, why Citroen? …… (amidst the sea of German marques).
    I ask, “what about a 2000’s E class, E320?” etc.

He says ….”Yeah, you buy as good or better in a Citroen or Peugeot for half the money.
And the costs of maintaining the Benz ……”

He likes dealing in Citroen/Peugeot, and in particular the C5 and 407 .. clearly with the C5 in front for comfort.
In fact, of all of the cars he has hanging around, he prefers to drive these two models.

    Ah. We Citroen tragics.
But good to see a more objective input on a subjective topic.

Sounds like a very good sales person. With an ability to pinpoint exactly what the buyer wants to hear, and let the buyer be sold on the car. If you went looking for a Mercedes, and were wavering on the cost; "mate, there's a reason those Frenchies are so cheap, the maintenance costs....." :-)

    A possibility!

Then he'd have to be a good salesperson, and a good actor too.
Having been around the traps looking, I'd only ever "buy the car" regardless of the sales pitch.

One car we saw was a shocker, with the salespeople suggesting "a few bucks" for repairs, rego, etc.
Just with what I could see/feel, I reckoned $4,500+ if you were lucky. Interesting to watch how they reacted. You start discussing "spheres" and the like. Huh?

With "that car" I think they picked it up cheap, looked at "book vales" and thought they could do well with it.

But no. Even at $200 you'd be lucky to make it worthwhile for the eventual market value.
