I was just curious about getting a concensus about insurance:

    Who r u insured with?
    how much r u paying?
    on what car?

    NRMA
    $1029 p.a.
    1999 306XSi
    age 24, insured as 'garaged'
    Rating 1

NRMA are consistently the cheapest for me - so much so, that they're the only insurer I've ever used.

    Hi Guys,

for me it's $70bucks a month ie: about $800 a year to cover my cars.

    This is full comprehensive for:

    -- '63 ID19
-- '85 CX 2500 GTi Turbo I Series II (personal import)
    -- '96 Xantia VSX Exclusive

Not toooooo bad for three cars, one being a turbo charged personal import

I just agreed with Shannons car insurance to have the 205 insured for $15 grand! These guys are serious when it comes to looking after people and giving them a realistic agreed value.

I told them that if i was to put mine into a tree then to put another one on the road in the same condition it would cost at least 15.

They don't appear to like Sydney that much though. They've either not insured me or quoted over double what the other insurers would quote. Same as Suncorp Metway for me.

I've got free insurance at the moment with FordInsure. A quick play with the NRMA site and I get:

    $2107 per year.
    2003 Ford Focus - $40K on lease
    High risk Suburb (inner sydney)
    27 - Rating 1.

Yep, I have no problem with that quote, dude. The Micra was $1100 per year and it was insured at market value at around $7K! The GTi6 is still around $1800 if I insure it at this address. It's just something I have to put up with. I love where I live, it's awesome. Never had a problem at all, although I hear about things I have never seen a thing.

I've moved this thread into Froggy Chat as it's directly related to 'car-stuff', the intended topic for this forum. The Toad Pond is really for topics not related to cars.

You guys need to move across the ditch

To insure the MI16 for $9000.00, ungaraged and with the bank having an unhealthy interest in it cost $400.00, and that is worse than it should be as some s**t for brains kicked in the passenger front door of it' s predecessor last year so my no claims discount hasn't recovered fully.

And to insure the 203 for $7000.00 and my 1930 Durant for $25000 comes to around $250.00 per year.

Ahhh How FRUCKD up is this.

for those that don't know im a p-plate driver. my 306 is my first car & im insured through allianz.

When signing my policy last year i had it under mine & dads name, allianz gave us a quote of $1250 or thereabouts we agreed & all was good. Then we realised the Policy was actually in my dads name & i'm not gaining any no claim bonus & my rating is still nil (one year on, even though i havent made a claim). So anyway it's turned out that i will now have to pay over $3000 for the policy to be under my name & for me to receive a rating.

I don't know if i've explained it properly, but basically we were mislead by allianz. Allianz knew in writing the car was OWNED by ONLY me. They didn't even recognise that my dad was a rating 1 & adjust the pricing accordingly, nor did they make me aware that i wouldn't recieve a rating.

So im now in the market for a new insurer. I want comprehensive but don't want to spend over 2k a year, i know im a p-plater driving a so called "prestige car" (which for starters is a load of crap).

    SO PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I have RACV Third Party (fire + theft) on my 505 (valued at $4000). It costs me $448 per year. I'm a 19 year old P-Plater, living in a reasonable part of the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Asanka, your insurance might be cheaper if you take the carbon fibre sticky-tape of the sides of your car
