    Default Assumption Day 2017

One of the villages local to us holds a meet every 15 August. It's free, and involves rolling up in your old car (with no set definition of "old") having breakfast (including wine) driving to morning tea (including wine) and then driving back again for a picnic (with beer tent). The half dozen or so villages we drive through have street lined with waving people, and provide traffic control.

This year we went for the first time. I don't know why this was our first visit, because Mrs Wiz claims we've known about it all along. As far as I can remember, we first found out about it when our retired garagiste told us last week...

The pics are here. As usual in France, mainly froggies, although there were more VWs than usual (usually under-represented at these events) and a scattering of cars where you'd pay road tax by the hectare.

That looks very lovely. Thank you for the pictures! I've never heard about it, but now I think it would be cool to go there myself

Never assume anything. Check the date and time first.

Nearly every day is an 'assumption' day!

It certainly looks like a very catholic assembly of cars.

For one horrifying moment I thought I saw a VB Commodore in the picture with the Mini. Is it safe to assume it is an Opel?

I think so. There were a few Opels in the mix. As you say - they're fairly Catholic about it.
