    Default Probs with IE

There is a problem with internet explorer and the AF Forum at present. I have been having continual problems with IE crashing whenever I try to use AF - not just on my home PC but on multiple PCs at work. Gibgib, you have some work to do

BTW - I am posting this with Netscape and it is fine.

Nor for me... in fact, I find Netscape to be slow and it doesn't load all images.

Firebird, is that a Mozilla derivative?

I use Opera and love it.

opps, that should have been Firefox It was called Mozilla Firebird but is now Firefox. I loved Opera but Firefox is the best browser I have used to date. Not sure how to get this back on Froggy related thread so best I shut up now.

    hahahahah *click*

BTW I also got the same problem sometimes when reading that thing in the Humour section about the bike speeding thingy. No other threads have done it so far except for this one. Maybe UFO is infecting the threads he posts in with some LHM that's gone off or something

I can't get to the CitIn pix thread - IE crashes every time I try to look at the thread, closing all open windows.

I though it might be MS Java, so changed to the latest Sun Java, but it is still exactly the same. I suspect that it has only happened after the latest 'fixes' from MS were applied.

Could it be a particular smilie?

Aussiefrogs is crashing IE 6 here - funnily I tried to post in this thread twice, but it crashed each time I tried

I've spoken to other AFers for whom it's also causing a problem with IE.

Interesting. I've *tried* to make it crash IE on XP SP2 (still in beta) but I can't make it crash...

One thing that most ppl will like in XP SP2 is the built in pop up blocker in IE. About time too

I can't get into this thread with IE6 here either, each time I click on 'Probs with IE' IE crashes

I've downloaded firefox, it really is a fantastic browser.

Oh, so I was right? Hmmm....?

My PCs, both at home and work, always run the latest approved (non beta) patches and service packs. Other PCs at work have also had the same prob when I have accessed AF.

Thanks for those that also indicated that they are having probs with IE 6 and crashing (error reporting) when accessing AF.

So, there is a problem, that seems exclusive to AF, that requires repair.

I'm fine on IE6, but it's REALLY slow on dial-up since the last two upgrades to the site. I haven't posted anything about it because I know Gerry's sorting the speed issue asap.

Derek, how'd you get XP SP2? I assume it's a culmination of all the updates inc. SP1 plus more?

I've been considering a combination of Firebird/fox and Thunderbird for mail for a while. Anyone use this mail client?

    Brad, is Opera ad-ware?

Has anyone changed their avatar recently?

I have a suspicion that maybe an image is a bit corrupt and makes IE trip over when trying to display it

Edit: nope, not that .. just tried loading the page with images turned off and it still trips over.

I've been having trouble for a while but I thought it was my pc missing a bug fix. It's all updated but certain threads, including this one give the "send error report to microsoft" error.
The other threads also seem to have a post by UFO

Can anyone examine the source code & find a cause?

I use IE6 on both Windows 2000 and Windows ME clients and don't have any troubles. IE is very slow refreshing pages on OSX though (even with cable), so I changed to Safari. It screams through the pages.

    Stuey: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...p2preview.mspx

It's still a beta so don't use it on your primary system (I don't...)

I just found out what it is I think. If I use the scroll wheel on the mouse, IE crashes. If I scroll using the scroll bar at the right hand side, it doesn't crash.

    Try that out.
