    Default GP weekend event stuff....

I found this pic of the underbonnet of one of the Celebrity Event challenge BMW 318Ti's - they've fitted 'pods' to the track cars....

Tell me why GP cars run on tyres with such high sidewalls ? They don't need bump absorption since they drive on billiard tables. Is it just heat buildup? Surely those tyres are inflated with nitrogen......

they only have 20mm travel on the front end and 40mm on the rear end

the tyres also add i think to the bump absorption but remember some of the tracks they are on are street circuits and are fairly bumpy in spots for these cars

the tyres are actually filled with helium. I was in the pits and was able to pick up the tyres...one in each arm. They are amazingly light.
