    Default Freight Melbourne to Sydney

Having recently scored a cheap tow bar on fleabay from a chap in Brunswick East (Melbourne) I now have to problem of getting it back to Sydney.

It's got the tongue and ball but the big dimensions of course are the body width supports that connect the jigger to the wife's 306.

Pack and Send have quoted me $210. I figured taking two days off and driving the mighty RS down there and back is going to cost me $180 in 98 petrol to start with so it's not outrageous I guess.

Does anyone have any other options? Is there a backdoor to gain access to the major DHL/TNT's of this world if you are not a business?

    Open to suggestions.

    Dave

    $210!

That's nearly what Parcel2Go charge for airfreighting a towbar from the UK. How can it be so dear? I've sent guitars around the eastern states for less than $40 - and you'd think that a guitar case is bulkier than a towbar.

Are you sure you're comparing apples with apples ? $210 for air freighting a full car width bulky heavy framed tow bar from the UK sounds too cheap to me !

Andrew - with TGX I plugged in 15kg, 120x45x17cm and got 85-odd from suburban Bedfordshire to Sydney suburbia. 3-4 days in transit, no collection fee, max weight by volume 19kg.

Try Courier Company Australia: Interstate Parcel & Courier Delivery Services

E-go couriers for me always come up cheapest. They also have depot to depot, depot to door or door to depot to make things cheaper still.

For anyone else wondering, it's a competitor of Parcel2Go. Sometimes one will auto-quote on freight of an item the other doesn't touch.

Brunswick East is only a couple of km's from where I live Dave. If you are not in a hurry I could possibly pick it up for you and store it until a fellow frogger was taking a trip to Sydney. And/or this might be a silly suggestion but depending on how big it is could Australia Post be worth a try? I sent a big heavy box of bonsai pots to Sydney last year and was surprised how relatively little the postage costs as the size and weight increases.
PM me if I could assist, I'd be happy to.

    They certainly were, dvr.

$39, and they picked up the tow bar from Brunswick East first thing this morning.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and to Kaye for your very kind offer.

Still waiting for the email to tell me it's at the depot in Bella Vista. Maybe it's waiting for me?
