And there's more than 1 model C5, with quite different engines and systems.

Google would give better results if posters would mention which model.

true...and that is at the heart of the problem....google is fine but it's confusing to sort out the relevant info and I found myself reading similar posts or ones that didn't relate to my model...thought a sticky would make it a lot easier...just a thought

    How would that work??

You would need a sub forum, with the full range of C5 models listed.
Many of the problems cross over from model to model and indeed Peugeot to Citroen.

Then the question, why just C5???

Let me know how you would make a 'Sticky' work and it will be considered.

How about a thread title such as "C5 issues" and a request that posters identify their model in the heading of their individual posts? I see the flaws, but it is simple and at least a place to start. A comprehensive and flawless system would be just about unworkable, I think.

We have an archive of 'Common Faults and Fixes' that is under subscribed and utilised, the intent was/is very much as you describe.
Archive / Common Faults & Fixes

You need to set 'Display options' to 'Beginning' there is a huge under utilised resource already set up.

I still maintain many of these issues can be resolved by rolling the hardware back a version or two.

Sadly, after seeking forum help, very few bloggers re-post when the problem is fixed, so any "Sticky" would risk becoming just a dated list of problem inquiries, as it is at present on most forums, with very limited posts of any successful results.

I don't see it as a thread where your problem is posted..rather a thread just on C5 issues & fix's
any post is to give the issue and rectification or range of possibilitys to investigate...
that way anyone with any model C5 can read the thread and see what applies to them....currently you search the forum...get a range of stuff to read...half of which is not relevant
In fact...it doesn't have to be a sticky

What you describe fits the purpose of 'Archived Common Faults and Fixes' perfectly.

That forum, as I think you may have discovered is moderated, any threads started have to be approved by the forum moderators. This prevents useless/incorrect information being archived, I believe there are no replies permitted for the same reason. The information archived should be factual and correct.

For it to work the thread title needs to be brief but relevant to the detail i.e 'Citroen C5 Series 1 Fault codes'
It would then be easy to scroll through the forum titles, in this case Citroen/ C5/ Series/ problem/fix

Threads that have been started in the main forums can, and have been copied into 'Archives Common Faults and Fixes' Re-Titled to suit the format. As I have mentioned this is an oft forgotten resource that could use a spring clean and be better utilised.

Feedback from members that have received good advice is invaluable, if a fix is established to be correct the ACFF moderators can be made aware and copy the relevant thread (or post(s) within a thread) to the archive.

Does this sound more like the solution you seek?

Edit: As this is relevant to the whole AF community I would (with your permission) like to re-title this thread and move it to 'Froggy Chat'. We may get a little more pertinent input before any changes take place.

    Cheers
