    Default Golden Fleece

Most of us remember the Golden Fleece petrol stations. This is a lovely bit of nostalgia....enjoy.

    "Déesse" Roland Barthes, 'Mythologies', 1957

The Déesse has all the characteristics of one of those objects fallen from another universe that fed the mania for novelty in the eighteenth century and a similar mania expressed by modern science fiction: the Déesse is first and foremost the new Nautilus.

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

Didn't all Valiants have tennis balls?

I don't remember any of those bow ties either. On the other hand you can see why my better half wouldn't ride in MGs.

I think you are correct, but I thought the tennis ball was at the other end, keeping a little grease on the tow ball.

In a previous life I have to admit I had an mga1600 and a valiant pacer but no balls. That was the era of nodding head dogs on rear shelf;owned a Chihuahua which sat in one corner in the rear, changing sides when stopped at lights;the looks on the facrs of the cars behind was priceless.

I'd forgotten that Ernie Bourne was the corporate bastard who dismissed Stanley. There was a public outcry after that TV ad and Golden Fleece had to bring Stanley back.
