Dang, that's a nice run. You managed to get into Porsche territory in under 9:00. Well done.

Had you heard about the crazy who actually broke 10:00 in an AX Diesel?

Edit: I love it- not only did you post a rather fast lap with traffic, you managed to humiliate those two w**kers in their 911s. You were demonstrably faster in the corners, and it seemed everytime you threatened to pass that dark colored one would pull to the center of the track and brake, then speed up showing just how so damn fast he was.

Is that a UK registered red Holden (Vauxhall) I see at the start?

Great to watch, thank you. It would be nice to learn more about your Saxo and driving experiences.

    .
I see it also now that you mention it. I paused the video just as the red car was being passed and the white sticker to the left of the rego plate clearly reads GB. It looks like a Dunnydoor to me.

    Cheers guys.

I was born and raised in the UK, my family still live in the UK. I built the car while at Uni over there, then moved in Sydney with my wife back in 2008. With the help of my brother, dad and close friends we've been able to slowly improve the car over the years to it's current spec.

Each European summer I head over there for a few weeks & always fit in a few days at the ring to test out the latest bits on the Saxo. This year was my 9th Ring trip and I have completed 90+ laps now.

Yes that was a GB registered supercharged v8 Holden, I think they are called vxr's in the UK?

    Here's a few pictures;

We also went to the alps (the car is road legal)

Sabine actually did a 10.08 time in the fully standard diesel Transit (albeit lightened by removing everything unnecessary for the run - including spare wheel and passenger seat - and with a Dodge Viper upfront for that extra little bit of low pressure air).

An exceptional bit of driving and I reckon she lost more than 8 seconds due to the long travel of the gearstick. One of the few situations where I think a short shift setup actually would have made a difference.

people do go on about that girl.
as far as i can see, she is a competent, but unremarkable professional race driver, who is well known because she is a girl.
plus, her specialty is driving around the Ring. i've seen her in a WTCC race, where she was just a mid field also-ran.

No, it's not because she is a girl. And she was very well known in her home country before TopGear.

Either way, I don't think too many people (men or women) would score a 10 minute lap at the ring in a van.

of course not. most people arent professional race drivers who spend half their life driving around the Ring.

all she has ever done is
    *drive a Ring taxi
*complete 2 years of WTCC as a back marker
*have a few places spread over 20 years, in the Nurburgring 24hrs. (if anyone has ever heard of that)

that is despite virtually living on that track.

so, yes, the only reason anyone knows about her is because she is a girl, and got all that exposure on TG. she is certainly no yardstick for driving excellence.

personally, i reckon that about 1 in 20 men, chosen off the street randomly, could drive race cars as well as the backmarkers in most race series. (with appropriate training & experience of course)

With appropriate training you could almost pass as an intelligent form of life.
