Default French car sales July 2014

It wasn't a good month. Sales were down 4.3% on last year - Renault were down 6.3% and PSA only 3.1%

The economy is badly managed and as other countries like the US are picking up employment and new job creation, so France is facing the reverse.

For much the same reasons. In the good times, incomes and consumer expenditure were high and governments encouraged to invest heavily in social infrastructure. Now the test is how societies can show the flexibility to cut back on both and still provide an acceptable quality of life to their members. Australians it would seem, in spite of a few squeals of pain, are much more flexible and adaptable than the French in such circumstances.
Both countries are having difficulties in recognising that government now is not about forcing dogma and polemics but is driven by pragmatism and dominated by influences outside its span of control. Again I think the Australians are doing it better, philosophy is not a subject that counts too highly in school leaving certificates.
