    Default I was robbed!

Got home from Uni today and found my digital camera, PS2 (+ games), watch, a mobile phone, cool $80 backpack and a few other things were gone. The police say he forced open the back door. My bloody dog didn't do anything! Strangely enough they left the computers (including a laptop), vcrs and the dvd player .

I think I should buy an old 504 that doesn't go to leave in the drive so it looks like someone is home.

Bummer dude ... guess they used the backpack to carry the rest of the items .. PC's are too big to carry and laptops too hard to shift (sell).

    Yeah.

It is just knowing they were going through all my stuff which I don't like. They had strewn my stuff around my room and the police say I can't touch any of it until tomorrow when the detective person comes to do the finger print thing.

Geez Nick, sorry to hear about your stuff being taken, that really sucks. Hopefully you might be able to get some of it back if the police are any good.

    Good luck with it.

No doubt it will be unloaded pretty quickly at a Cash Converters.

I'm sure insurance will cover it all, but it doesn't make up for all the photos stored on my camera's memory card.

Not sure why they bother, they never catch anyone for this sort of crime. I have fallen victim to this sort of theft many times. I've never heard from the cops ever again. Always seem to be around when I don't need them though.

Wait 2 weeks and head into your local pawn shops and Cash Converters. By law, these places must keep any new stock (and you can bet the thief has unloaded it the same day) 'out the back' for 2 weeks before offering it to the public.

My place was burgled, but we'd only bought it the week before and all there was in the place was a cordless drill and a whippersnipper. I went into the not so local (10k's away) Cash Converters 14 days later, and there was my whippersnipper sitting on the shelf, still wearing its dealer tag and serial number.

The thief got 200 hours community service (he'd used photo id to sell it to Cash Converters), and I got my Whippersnipper back!

    Good Luck!

P.S - the feds won't do anything about it. Theres just too much of this crap to follow up on........

Njm you are now a statistic, hope you where insured because there is a high probability that you will get a return visit from the unwelcome visitors in the next month. After you have restocked they will collect and those goodies they missed the first time?
Forget the old gear the chances of finding it are low and most likely interstate by now, just does your head in.
I got robbed over 10y ago and promptly had an alarm system installed a month latter my neighbour was robbed and the cops said it was the same group that got me- on their return visit, so warn those on each side. Good luck and get quotes from a new insurance co now cause the cost is on the way up.
