Default The PSA product strategy under Tavares begins to flow

He says that he has to concentrate on improving profit margins on the existing ranges in the three marques before he can contemplate entry in the low cost segment so well penetrated by Renault with Dacia.
To that end they will be concentrating on using the French production facilities for the top of the range and moving production elsewhere for the mass market vehicles. The next generation C3 will not be made in France but in Slovakia.
They are already building the C3 Picasso and the Peugeot 208 there. The C3 is also being built in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Hyundai are experimenting with a j/v in Turkey to build their vans for Europe. If that works they may seriously attack the market, presently a very profitable segment for PSA and Renault who both assemble there already.

Ha. If past experience is anything to go by, manufacturing in Slovakia might just be the ticket to help the french marques change their reputation for poor reliability. They should have learned the lesson from Volkswagen.

I was chatting to a C6 owner over the weekend. He said that he was hoping its replacement would be a Chinese DS - cheaper and better built than the French product.
He wouldn't of course know that, the Chinese cars haven't yet made it to France but it is an interesting comment on the repositioning of French prejudices.

    Default PSA strategy ??

    Hi
I have a strategy for PSA. They can send the consultant fees later

Make good quality cars at a reasonable price AND select a dealer network who are customer friendly Next step is to treat the customers to a reasonable warranty when things go wrong, instead of pretending there are no faults.

Not rocket science is it ?? The PSA products in Australia and the UK and perhaps others are the laughing stock of the industry over the last decade or so. Worse than the decades before that. Now that's really trying. In that time most other manufacturers have advanced, even from rubbish to good, some even to excellent.

Let's see how they address the issue of quality cars delivered in a quality way. Then I might consider them more than cheep second hand transport 'despite the problems' The bean counter have not succeeded up to now !
