Sort of. I've posted here as it doesn't exactly fit the "Social Events" sub-Forum.

14th May (yes, tomorrow as written) I saddle up the red Berlingo and embark on a solo mission.

Leaving Sydney I travel to Temora, then Narrandera via Ganmain, thence Wagga and back to Sydney. All in one (long!) day and on a fully legal, Unregistered Vehicle Permit or UVP.

As I explained to the woman at RTA Hornsby today, I wanted to see if the vehicle really was suited to this sort of tripping. I didn't tell her that I'd booked the car in for a blue slip en route!

So, we have a camionette doing what the French designed them so well to do - cope effortlessly with second rate roads. A $52 wheel alignment today at City Discount Tyres has taken much of the vagueness from the steering. It's my intention to post some pictorial updates along the way, from the 'phone.

That should provide plenty of opportunities for computer equipped treasury agents hiding along the way. Tell us how often you get to show the permit!

LOL, at the Yass service centre and just spotted another red Berlingo (M59 though). Too late for a happy snap together; it was driving briskly out.

You do choose the most scenic locations for your rest stops . Watch out for low posts when reversing .

I have found that most cars on major country roads without plates are inter-staters on permits so are left alone by the boys and girls in blue.

Enjoy the countryside; it's very pretty down that way and nice and green.

The only time I have ever been stopped while using a permit was in the main drag of Parkes!

    No, people in blue uniforms.

I would encourage anyone in Melbourne obtaining a permit to include Citylink in their itinerary. No plates means no tolls.

I made it back "uninterrupted". Blue slip not a problem.

Car ran fine. Intended insurer (Allianz) flaked on me because I was honest about the NSR flank being dented. That totally screwed the rego process as comprehensive reduces your CTP $150-odd.

There were other irritations but resulting from poor choices by myself.

No, didn't take any more after the first were so well received.

I have to say there is a very bountiful feijoa tree in the front yard of 103 Anzac St.

Finally registered, in time for the Tyre Kicking Day.

Sometimes it seems like you go out of the way to make it more difficult than it should be Adam

When do we get to see this Berlingo? Heard so much about it.

    Personalised or customised plates?

I'm waiting for the personal plates to arrive. Although Joel seems to think they should be sold. I'll take $5K, seriously, for them.
