    Default Any Saxo's / 106's over here?

First and foremost a big hello

I'm originally from the UK and have lived out here in Sydney since 2008. I have a Saxo track car stored in the UK which I use over the European summer

There's a 106 for sale in melbourne. I think it was in the Peugeot car club vic magazine. I believe I've seen the car a red two door.

Still quite a few AXs around, from which the Saxo evolved. A possible project basis ...
NSW. Citroen Axgt 91' whole or parts.
Or start with a C2 instead. Plenty on offer.

I always loved the 106 GTI in pics. Pity it never came over here, dunno if it was a good drive though.

Brilliant little back road blaster, not so great on a big wide open track (in standard form), but nice and light, reasonable space on the engine bay to do whatever you want really.

One of my mates has recently put a turbo k20 on the front of a 106, that thing is crazy.

Any more info on the 106 on Melbourne?

The Melb car is an XN, (45hp @ 6000rpm) so probably more performance from your power steering pump.

I can confirm the 106 was never officially sold in Aus, but most certainly here in NZ. For the other posters above, I can also say it's a cracking drive. Mine is a 97 GTi, and after looking for ages for a good 205, I'm sold on the 106. I think it's better in many ways, and would probably be the nearest factory thing to the frankenstein 205 Mi16.

A nice smooth, zingy little engine in a razor sharp chassis (but still Peugeot comfy) kind of way. Good brakes, direct steering and surprising straight line performance. I bought mine sight unseen 7 months ago, and have been revelling in it ever since.

There's a few over here in NZ, and pretty affordable too.

    Hi from France (Paris)

Here some pics of my ex-daily:

a 106 1.4 quiksilver 75hp with short gearbox and low suspensions, and other things, was a great car

    Any Saxo's / 106's over here?-12dcfb0551.jpgAny Saxo's / 106's over here?-74afd6eb5d.jpgAny Saxo's / 106's over here?-fc0b2a3e3c.jpg

I finally sold this car, i would have like to keep it to prepare it (swapp s16 engine) and then go for race on circuits but i have no place and no budget......

106 gti is heavier, less power and doesnt come close to a 205 gti your kidding yourself if you think it does. I have drove saxo vts and 106 gtis back to back and can confirm there nothing like a 205!!!

    Nice but not a patch on a 205 :-)

OK mate, I take your point, the 106 is a bit heavier (may be 50kg, depending on your source) but at 88kw the 106 is actually more powerful than the 1.6 and early 1.9 205's, and practically line ball with the later 1.9's 90kW. I'm talking Aussie specs here.

True the 1.9's will have a few extra Nm's, but I think the 16v 1.6 makes up some of that with an ability to rev that I haven't seen in an 8 valve 205, hence my comment about the "205mi16"

The 205 is undoubtedly more iconic (and I'm a big fan), but surely this is not an invalid comparison?

    Hi Steven

Here is a link to the Aust Gov website: https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicl...tions/pis.aspx

If you don't want to do the leg work yourself there are companies that will do it for you, at a cost of course
