    Default i don't have a 19" screen

Avery so often i open a thread and find that i have to scroll to read the responses. bowies thread on the chromed merc is but one example of this problem.
Is it fixable or is the problem due to the size of the image posted in the original thread?

It's probably because your screen resolution is lower than 1024 x 768 which is what this site is optimised for, I believe.

Ron, this might be a silly question but are you talking about scrolling horizontally or vertically?

    Ron,

The width blowout is caused by the image. There's nothing that can be done about it except the original poster re-sizing the image to a smaller size.

The site is optimised for 1024 x 768 resolution. 1024 x 768 should be fine and easy to read on 15" CRT monitors and above (I used to use 1024 x 768 on a 15" CRT at work)

Optimised screen size is one thing but, is it possibly to resize only the post that is causing the problem?

I have seen it on other forums where the oversized post is the only one that you have to scroll for, all the remaining postings fit within the original specs.

Yes, I agree it is a pain in the bum. Even those of us who use 1024x768 still have to scroll frequently when large pics are included - HOWEVER, I think what we are actually getting is NOT an attached picture but a linked picture. Therefore the poster has no control over the image size.

Therefore there is perhaps little that can be done?

I use 1024x768 and have to scroll horizontaly as well.. As UFO said it's when the Picture is actually taken from a linked URL.. if it was an attached image it would be smaller due to the file size limit..

other forums can have the one message set at the wider resolution, but it does not impact every other message in the thread. That's what Tekkie is getting at.

For more real-estate in IE .. try the F11 key, see if this helps.

    XTC206,
the best example of the problem is on the Fiesta thread. All was well until the latest photo was added.... kaboom... scroll town. Now if only the last post (oversized pic) was that width with the remaining posts the default size all would be verrry sweeeeet.
