The various plans to merge Opel and PSA production to improve plant utilisation seem not to have gone very far. Now apparently, PSA are planning to mothball one of the two production lines at Mulhouse and so lift their European plant utilisation from a little over 70% to nearly 100%. With Europe's car market in poor shape they need to do this or something similar irrespective of government efforts to retain jobs, if they are to be profitable in the region.
