Just as the details of the Peugeot 2008 emerge, so Renault will be releasing details of the Captur, tomorrow.

We might get the 2008 - bet we won't get the Renault Captur.

I think (maybe it's more hope) we'll get the Captur here. Especially if the Holden Trax and Ford Ecoboost do well.

Wow that would be exciting.... You can't buy pretend w@nk tanks out here ... all jacked up for no reason ... and "2wd" so the chubby peroxide blondes that can't afford a 3ton wank tank doesn't feel to inferior in the school carparks. I'm really excited.... So much so, I may run out and buy one of each

If they want to sell thousands of them I suggest calling them something like "Prada" or "Proda" so it even sounds like a 3ton wank tank ...... when it's not....

They are not aiming to sell thousands of them, more like hundreds of thousands.

What about arthritic oldies? Just the other day some aquaintances told me that they bought an Outback for that reason for their father. Not as high as an UAV but higher than a normal car. easy for him to get in and out.

Funny I though you were describing a bitsaremissin ASX/Peugeot 4008/Citroen Aircross there.

Actually the car does look nice - but still reckon it will ever get here.

This segment is attracting a lot of attention and the geographiç sourcing of product tells a story.
The first in was the Nissan Juke which has been around a couple of years. It is made in the UK and Japan.
The Renault is to be made in Spain. This gives the Renault Group three stabs at the market - Captur, Juke and Duster.
The Peugeot 2008 is starting production at Mulhouse but then will be made in China and Brazil.
Opel have a competitor, the Mokka, made in Korea.
Fiat are coming out with one soon, the 500X.

The market is for the young city dwellers, who want something that looks a little different, even sporty but which gives a higher driving position.

Give the higher vehicle trend it's due - people with mobility problems to find it easier to get into a vehicle where there is some ability to perch on the edge of the seat and turn 90 degrees over vehicles where they have to desend, perch then turn.

I'm waiting for the pretend wank tank the size of a barina, yet I need a ladder to get into it ..... That would have to be for the coolest of the cool right "For the poeple that want to experience the freedom to get away from the city. And have a commanding view" ........

Something like a renault nimbus/c4 picasso .... Those I can understand, there smart. Little cars all boxy, jacked up to look stupid so dumb people that want wank tanks will buy them makes no sense at all

I read on another forum, that the Captur is going to be available in FWD only. Is this true?
If so, then I agree with Shane!

Yes, it is front wheel drive only, to save costs and the front drive train is more robust than usual for a city car. This is an urban vehicle and is not intended for use off-road.
There has been a serious market segment opened up in Europe and Asia for box shaped people and luggage carriers, which give maximum volume for their road footprint. It has a secondary component in boxes that are rounded off at the corners to look fancy. The C3 Picasso and its replacement are typical of the category. Fiat have been there since the 600 taxi.
