Im sure he's spending his time wisely....plotting and scheming about ways to get that race car to go faster.

    Get well soon Frans.
Every day when I wake up I reach up in the darkness with my eyes shut and if I cannot feel anything that resembles a wooden lid I know it will be a good day. No lid today.

The op is now keyhole and a very short stay (often overnight) in hospital.

Much better than the "half-cut" of 20 years ago with a few weeks in hospital!

Please pass my best wishes to Frans and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I spent five hours at Esperance Hospital Emergency Department late yesterday with initial thoughts from me and them as heart problems but after blood, urine more blood and then x-ray it looks like only a lung infection.

I'm still feeling crap tonight as I didn't get a chance today to get to the chemist for my drugs as after leaving at 5am we only got an hour west when the shitty Land Rover went bang and a relaxed 7hr drive became a 17hr journey to get home at 10pm with Total Care membership being this years best investment already.

    Hi All,

Back in action. Well sort of.

I have almost ignored the signs too late. Turned out to be a rotten gal bladder to such a stage that septicemia (whatever that is) started forming. So without a gal bladder and without a gal stone I'm a little lighter than before.

Gal stone is a fair size, so I hear, so I thought it would be a good thing to share with you. Anybody had any bigger than this? Gory hey? Picture not for the feint hearted.

    Regards
    Frans.

Good to see you up and about Frans.

That stone is a large one and should be mounted for prosperity and yes septicemia is as bad as it sounds.

That's bad all right, but just to reflect on how far we've come, I was reading an early Gippsland nurse's memoir the other day, in which she said that in the late 19th/early 20th century, "Appendicitis was called idiopathic [ie, an elegant way of saying "of unknown origin"] peritonitis, and the patient died." (... actually from septicaemia, eventually. And inevitably.)

Gee Frans, that's a bit of an extreme way to get your lap times down - reducing your body weight like that !

My understanding is Septicemia is caused when an infection which is normally localised to one area (gal bladder in your case) is no longer encapulated in that area and then the infection goes off into the blood stream (blood poisoning) sending the infection around your body, so it makes you crook as hell and people die from it when not attended too quickly enough. Normally you get extreme temperatures as the body tries to fight it, so your temp may go to 40 degrees for example even though you feel freezing and shake uncontrollably.

So good to hear you got through that one ok though Frans
    cheers,

    John

Not sure anyone would pay well for a mounted gall stone!
