    Default Sydney Motorshow pics 2012

Well it was a little diappointing this year, no Renault, no Citroen, no Volvo, even Ford only had 3 cars and they were under wraps!
But here are some pics of the more interesting/bizarre cars.

If you believed the hipe, this is Australia's greenest car, it was built from recycled parts in a workshop that has it's power generated from solar and wind. The interior is covered in leather offcuts, it's covered in 'eco-friendly' paint, it has 'green friendly' tyres and it's 7.3 Litre turbodiesel V8 pumps out 450Kw while running on biofuel!

Now, this was just sex on wheels!

    Apparently they race this thing!

This thing is being developed in Woy Woy, it is hand crafted out of aluminium and has a 14 litre V16 made out of a one piece billet block and produces about 1001Hp!

    Not bad, for a Proton!

I really liked the Opel Corsa, for $24k on the road the way it sits here, there's a good chance it will be the replacement for my current Barina/Corsa, if the new Clio doesn't fit the bill!

    Opel Astra OPC

And the car, the motoring press have been raving about since it's introduction.
This one won it's class in the 24 Hours Nürburgring!

I liked the way the dash lit up in this! No headroom for me though!

    Cheers Renomad

My pick of that bunch would be the 2000GT.

I also like the VW Up! It's a clever compact design.
Some little touches reminded me of Renaults I've owned in the past. Like the bonnet release on the left hand side.... R12 and the painted metal on the inside of the doors, plus the round air vents..... R10!

Unfortunately you must have arrived at the Ford stand just before the "iPad dancers" did their show and the cars were "re-revealed".

While I was there the cars were on display, then covered over and it was excitedly announced that the cars would be "re-revealed".

This involved a tosser with pointy shoes talking a lot of rubbish about design language, nine smiling dancers prancing about with iPads and then the covers came off again.

    It was all very revealing.

Most of Ford's display is outside, and there are quite a lot of cars.

    Simon

    'Re-revealed' huh?
I thought it was a bit strange that the cars hadn't been revealed halfway through the show!
Would have it been worth the wait to hang around for a re-reveal?
    Was anything new revealed?
I would have liked to suss out the 4 cylinder Falcon! Apparently less than 60 have been sold to private buyers since it's introduction! A future collectable maybe?

The EVOS concept was a very striking design - with some tricky door opening magic.

Other than that - no. All their fancy cars (Focus ST, Kuga, Ecosport, Fowlcans, etc) were in a massive display outside the main entrance, as per this article.

    Cheers Simon.
How could I miss such a large display? It was easy really, we entered via the Convention Center and exited the same way! No where near the main entrance.
