Default A black Renault Magane conv. moron

    I hoping this wasn't a AF member.

My girlfriend and I live in Axe Creek, not too far from Lake Eppalock in (at the moment) sunny Central Victoria. We were heading into Bendigo and about to turn onto Strathfieldsaye Rd off Axe Creek Road. As we approached the Strath. Rd intersection we both watched in disbelief a black Renault conv. Megane (was smallish so I'm assuming an older model) overtake a car over double white lines through an intersection moving at a decent speed (I'm guessing 120 in 100 zone. Yeah I know its only 20 over but still) Ok..... pedantic? Maybe. But I saw this clown of a person then stopped at the next petrol station which is no more than 2kms from were we saw him driving like a total and complete moron, checking the air in his tyres.

I like driving fast, there is no doubt but I couldn't believe what I saw. If you break each one of the things he was doing into a single offence, its not too bad (but still dangerous). I'm sorry, but all three in one hit is just plan stupid. If you are an AF member and local to this area, I got a good look at you when you were checking your tyres, and I also noted your number plate. If I see you again doing this, I'll be letting a mate of mine at the Bendigo Police Station know of your particulars (Bendigo Police are pretty tough on this sort of thing if you don't know).

Before this stirs anything up, this could have been any car and I would have been shocked. But I've always regarded French car owners generally to be more mature than your average car nut. So watching this happen got me a bit hot under the colar.

Once again, if you (the driver in question) are a member of this forum and are reading this, pull your head in !!!

I just re-read that and you're right. Mature isn't the right word, but you know what I mean.

Hi DjB8V, you wouldn't happen to know of a French specialist mechanic up this way at all?

    Cheers, Daniel.

Chris, may I humbly suggest you visit the big smoke more often whereby you will realise what you saw is just run of the mill. One thing that intrigues me is, if you were so miffed by the alleged miscreants behaviour and you saw him stopped at a servo, why didn't you bail him up and explain to him your disappointment with his roadcraft? And, if the situation was so dangerous, why did you not ring your mate in the Force and let him know then and there? Either it was a totally irresponsible and dangerous act, or it was just something you thought you'd share with us?
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

He was in a hurry, because he was running out of fuel!
He had to get to the servo before the fuel ran out!
    Cheers Renomad

Valid points. Roadcraft, I like that. I have lived in Melbourne and the traffic is one of the reasons why I moved away. I also have no arguement about not saying something face to face or calling the authorities at the time. Guilty as charged. As for sharing, twice guilty. But isn't that what forums are partly for? Short of video evidence I guess its one of things that is easily dismissed as someones intolerant ramblings too suppose.

Even with video evidence, I'd still think its a bit of an intolerant ramble.

Mind you, I dont mind having a dummy spit when people do realy realy dumb stuff.
The last driver to cop an ear full from me was reversing down a freeway turn off that he'd mistakenly taken (Maquarie st turn off from cahill expressway for those who know it) and I was taking the turn off and of course did not expect the driver in front to be reversing towards me.
Flat spotted my front tyres in the process of stopping and pulled up within feet of him in a cloud of smelly smoke, quite dramaticly really.
Once the air horns and squeeling tyres stopped blaring, the mouth started and he had to put up with it for the next 20 seconds at the red light.
I'd have not been surprised if he would have went through the red light to get away from the abuse coming from me, but he took the ear bashing he soooo deserved.

    Kim,
Are you telling me that Melbourne is full of Moron Drivers ....... Seems I've missed my vocation in life, should have been a Melbourne traffic cop.

I wouldn't go so fair to say Melbourne drivers are Morons, but there really is a selfishness in Melbourne traffic that drove (sorry for that pun) me nuts.

If you can put up with long shifts of just hiding by the side of the road waiting for someone to do 3Ks over the limit so you can jump out and fine them. Sure, it's a great job, don't even have to chase real criminals.
