I posted this in the Citroen forum, but have added it here for a wider audience :)
I bought a trailer that had an old car axle on it....the bloke i bought it off said he thought it was an old citroen axle.....Now I am not so sure!....
Have googled to death and have had no real luck at finding out what these wheels are off!
I have since changed the axle, but am left with 3 of these wheels....Dont really want them, but dont want to take them to the dump either, as I figure they look old and (been 3 stud) are probably a little bit rare....
I will happily give them to whoever wants or needs them.....Would seem a shame to waste them :)
They are 3 stud. 4.5x15" steel wheels.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and shout Zaphod the Xantia a new pair of front tyres.

Lots of Kms with a front end that was out of alignment chopped out the Yokohama A-drives somewhat prematurely. Having now sorted the front end it was time to spend a couple of quid.

Sadly, quids are not too plentiful to spend on cars at present, so I briefly contemplated a pair of good used tyres for an affordable price.

I was surprised to find I could get a pair of Chinese made tyres brand new, fitted and balanced, for roughly the same price as a couple of good used ones.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I had misgivings about using these tyres, but I figured I 'd give them a try anyway, having little other option.

The tyres are made as "Black Lion" model BH15. At first examination they seem to tick the boxes in terms of tread design, having deep longitudinal grooves for the egress of large amounts of moisture, and all sorts of angled siping such as the better known brands sport.

First impressions driving wise are also favourable. Yesterday it was wet, and despite them being "green" I couldn't get them to let go, and yes, I tried, discreetly, on a few quiet back roads. Of course, this could relate to the Xantia lacking the power to seriously disadvantage a rice pudding at times, but certainly sideways and braking wise they showed no signs of slipping or sliding.

Today saw a run along the freeway at 100kmh. They're quieter than the A-drives over the same surfaces!

Obviously longevity is someting to be checked over a longer period of time, but so far my prejudices against the "Great Wall" of tyres are lacking support.

Has anyone else taken this brave route and had experiences (good or bad) with this brand of tyre?

More news as it comes to hand, but so far it looks to me like the dollar saving in this case is justified by an unnoticeable lowering of standards.

Cheers, Pottsy (Guinea Pig extraordinaire)

The politics have shifted in favour of common sense and the government support for radical unionists has faded away. The CGT, the union that created the mayhem at Aulnay, has now signed an agreement with the management and have gone back to work. PSA are offering a 20,000 euros payment to those workers who want to leave now.
They are talking of starting negotiations for a productivity agreement as Renault has put in place and may start serious talks in a few weeks.

We are visiting friends in India who have a considerable and diverse fleet of cars. They let me drive their new pet Tata Nano last time that we were here. This time they met us the airport in new white Mercedes and took us on a tour of the new motorway complex being opened around their city. The next driver from the house came round in a Toyota SUV. They turned up for a chat in a bright red Volvo. Then specially for us they drove us to and from the house in their latest - a Renault Duster. This looked like the Dusters we know and admire in France but was in a much brighter colour and no mention of Dacia. A lozenge front and rear defined the marque. It was the first time I had ridden in the back of one and was very impressed by the quality, ride and legroom. Well up to the Toyota standard and just over half the price.
You should nag Renault Australia to bring these in. RHD is no excuse, here in India they have RHD as standard although driving on the left seems optional.

Interesting article in the paper this week indicating that the NT Govt was looking at going back to unrestricted speeds after the lowering or I should say setting of speed limits did not lower the number of speed related deaths in the state. It also looked at the speed related deaths in Germany - not that many.

Read this and then saw the mobile speed camera placed just inside the 60Km area of a smallish town near here, along a straight piece of road with at least 1km vision.

Obviously two totally different strategies and ways of thinking. I wish we could take the politics and emotion out of road safety and discuss issues logically.

End of rant

I just had a customer in here buying a horn for a Clio.

We got talking and he said that the customer had been reversed into in a parking lot. She (Clio driver) was pressing the horn button as hard as she could but the horn didn't work and therefore couldn't warn the other driver. Later she discovered that she had gotten confused and thinking of her other car she was pressing the wrong thing thats why the horn didn't work.

AAMI are saying that because she didn't alert there client of the danger there not liable.

Anyone heard of that one. I thought you had to look where you were going at all times not reley on someone else to tell you, but according to AAMI thats not so.

By the way, the reason they needed a horn was because when testing the car they discovered the horn really didn't work so they got a new one before it got assesed.
