i have dealt with pugs for over 10 years.

i have owned a few, and for my sins, scrapped a few. here are a few pics of my previous cars

hillclimb 205 gti with 309 running gear, lsd, cage etc

std spec 205 gti. bought off a customer, after i'd fitted all new suspension and brakes

my first 309 gti

309 gti goodwood

my 12k gbp 309 gti full restoration

that's just a sample, as i've had 306 gti6 and 2 white 306 rallyes aswell (will post pics if wanted)

so, as previously mentioned, my current project is a 405 mi16, which is going to be restored to 'as new' condition. i will start a project thread once i start work on it.

another reason i joined this site, is to say hello to a couple of the members on here.

one has been very helpful so far with some advice for my 405

the other has bought a fully rebuilt axle off me for his 306gti. at this moment in time, the axle is being shipped over to sydney :thanks:

i was very surprised to get the order. but the customer told me there aren;t too many specialists over there.

i fully rebuild 205, 309 and 306 gti axles to 'as new' condition, and have lost count of how many i have sold over the 4 years i've been doing them in my spare time.

i look forward to having a good read up of what's happening on this forum :thanks:
cheers

Hi Folks,

(I seem to have rambled a bit - skip to the bold if you prefer...)

(As I've now probably said too often...) I've recently got myself a 99 306 Cabriolet to 'play with'. Amongst the many jobs it needs, I'm wondering if I'll need to look at the clutch or at least the actuation sooner rather than later.

It's working just fine in the sense that take up is perhaps just below the centre of travel and engagement and disengagement aren't a problem. The problem is that it feels, er, crap...

Firstly, it seems a bit on the heavy side. The 406 I used to have that had the same engine as this 306, and presumably the same gearbox, wasn't particularly heavy. At least my four year old memory of it doesn't seem to think so...

(Before I go further, my daily driver is, unusually for me, an automatic and my partner's 2012 Polo has a very light clutch pedal - so that's my only current benchmark and may be the only reason the old pug feels a bit heavy and 'squishy'.).

And, yes, it doesn't feel all that precise or crisp in operation. I think if I was to step on the cat it would feel similar. Only noisier.

So my question is (finally) what, apart from simply the clutch plate itself wearing out, can affect the feel of a clutch pedal?

I can think of the springs getting tired or the clutch fluid breaking down over time. (Am I assuming correctly that there is a fluid component on these? Haven't had much time at all yet to get to know it). Maybe a small leak somewhere. Beyond that the cupboard's bare...

As I said, it may be that my partner's brand new shopping trolley (though with a brilliant engine btw) is simply skewing my impression atm, but would be interested in people's thoughts.

Cheers.

Tony.

A gathering of French and British cars, including some bicycles, will be held on Sunday 9th June 2013 at Rond Terrace to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The event is being sponsored by Shannon’s Insurance. In past years, the event has attracted up to 100 cars and around 150 participants depending on the weather. Entry to the event is open to the general public.

The event is being organized by the Renault Owners Club of Canberra (ROCC) in conjunction with the Peugeot Association of Canberra (PAC) and sponsors.

Entry to and egress from the event will be via Constitution Ave and Macquarie Drive and then via the gate near Blundell’s Cottage.

Freestanding directional signs will be at the intersections of Anzac Parade with Constitution Avenue and Constitution Avenue and Macquarie Drive and at the entrance near Blundell’s Cottage to designate the entry point for the event. The sign at the entrance will designate an advisory speed limit of 5kph. An official in a fluoro vest will be at the entrance to guide cars to their respective locations.

Public parking will be directed to the hard standing area just south of Rond Pond at the end of Anzac Parade.
All cars will be parked on the hard stand red granite area and well back from the RG Menzies walkway on the lake edge as public access to the area is not restricted. Drip trays are required.

Coffee, tea and drink facilities will be available. Food will be provided by a BBQ run by the PAC next to the coffee van. Each will have waste disposal facilities. Toilet facilities are located to the west in Commonwealth Park.

Door prizes comprising bottles of “The Arrogant Frog” will be available as door prizes to be drawn towards the end of the event. So stick around in case you are a winner. These are donated by Shannons. Otherwise the event is to be glass free.

Depending on forecasts, the event will be cancelled if there are forecast high or gusty winds or if there is rain. Advice as to any cancellation will be posted the day before on the ACT Council of Motor Clubs website and via email to participating clubs.

Event Schedule

Hello all,

I have four posters of pre-war citroens for sale on behalf of an estate. They were purchased in about the mid 1970's from Citroen S A and a photo of the label on the box in which they were kept is included to indicate provenance.

The posters measure about 70X99 cm and are drawn on heavy matt finished paper. It appears to me to be of a particular quality for poster work, but I am certainly no expert on this. The posters are in what I would think is good to excellent condition and appear to have kept in the mailing box for most of their lives. One poster has a small mark on the paper, but it is not in the vicinity of a drawing, another has a small stain, but again it does not interfere with the drawing. In both cases the imperfections are barely visible.

Given their collectible quality, I would think that $600 would be a reasonable price for the set of four posters. Postage is extra.

Also in the collection is the poster 'CITROEN EXPOSEERT SERVICE'. This is produced on heavy quality paper, but perhaps not quite as good as the set of four described above. There is some damage to it in the form of a tear at the top LH corner, but as far as I can tell there is no paper of the poster missing. There are also some fold lines apparently created by the rolled poster being slightly flattened in storage.

Price for this one is $35 plus postage.

Finally a poster of a CX Break which has damage to the left hand edge as is obvious in the picture.

$10 plus postage.

I trust that people will not take offence that this post appears in the 'Citroen Forum' rather than 'For Sale', but it seemed to be the most appropriate one.

Cheers

Hello everyone. I recently bought my first Peugeot. A used 2009 308 tourer. The fob key had a flat battery and the flick action was broken. I could use the key to unlock the door but it would not crank the engine over. I changed the battery but still nothing. To me- it sounds like the key isn't recognised by the immobiliser.

Does it need recoding?
And does anyone know a DIY method?

Someone told me about a special sequence of inserting the key into the ignition whilst pushing the fob lock/unlock buttons. Perhaps someone knows the sequence.

Thanks for reading.

I'm away present but was informed by my sons that he was missing and concerns were held for his safety. Unfortunately those concerns were well founded. The mounted police found his body this afternoon WA time. I'm sure other members will have similar tales of Petes generosity. My sympathy is extended to Sophia and Petes family.

PS I notice that he was working on his Dee and active only a week or so ago - how quickly things can change! :-(
