    Default Xsara door handle

    all,

i blame the very cold SA winter we are having but the driver's door handle broke on my Xsara last week

it is a simple black plastic moulding which has failed in the two sections that are connected to the door mechanism

i tried undoing the two fixtures visible from outside the car - but no tool i have appears to mate with it - including those funny Allen-key like fixtures common on the Xsara

i also took the inside of the door off and took a look inside - access to the door handle attachment is highly problematic / impossible

any suggestions appreciated - don't want to burn $$ on something i can do myself

    Jeremy,

I had the same problem a couple of years back so my memory will be tested

I purchased a replacement via ebay UK, this seller was very prompt.

You may find our service centres now carry stock, at the time I needed one they didn't.

From memory, you release the old handle by drilling out the rivets visible on the outside (or did I drill from the inside ), whichever, you need to remove the door trim to fit the new. Instead of rivets I used 2 x M5 nuts and bolts and washers.

    Cheers
    Chris

Did you make contact with the seller? I see he doesn't show that he'll post OS but he certainly did for me...

In reality 27GBP converts to around $40.00AUS add postage and a two week wait and you may be better off buying local?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-XS...ht_1886wt_1185

FYI that other bloke said postage to Aust was 5 pounds - but the other was still cheaper with 10 pounds postage

two quotes from Australian suppliers were $74 and $87 (both genuine Cit i think)
