    Default TU5JP4 c4 thermostat

i called the dealer for a replacement, and was quoted $220 for supply. the service person said it is supplied complete as a housing package. does this sound right? i'm struggling to find much on ebay uk that can answer definitively. i was hoping to get one for somewhere around the 20-50 range.

also, do i need to use citroen's own coolant, or are there regular products that are fine.

    thanks as always.

How many do you want? They are a $60-ish genuine part in the UK. The outlet/thermo housing changed at RPO 10436 to be a complete unit (like several other marques). Earlier type with a thermostat/spigot assembly held in by two screws is 1336.Q1 or 00001336Q1 while the later type is 1336.Z0 or 00001336Z0 if you want to shop Fleabay UK. Otherwise I am sure EAI will have the QH variety available.

Coolant is probably one of the "OAT" types; you could go aftermarket assuming the car is past warranty stage. Make sure all bleed screws are identified (before starting the process!) and used in bleeding.

Calll Carrevelle Imports in Melbourne - about 30-40 bucks as I recall for the Xsara 2.0 thermo, complete with its plastic housing.

thanks guys.i'm assuming that the housing will be under the airbox, at the start of the top rad hose? my previous cars have been this way.

if it helps, mine is an 07 model (12/06 build) 1.6 petrol auto.

edit- i pulled the airbox assembly off. it's the newer unit. thanks agin.

I'm guessing you worked it out by now? Not sure where you might get an OAT type coolant at a sane price on a Sunday, so probably easiest to reinstate the original stuff until that is resolved...

i ended up just filling it with distilled water and a non glycol inhibator. the car is getting its timing belt/water pump/ etc done in a few weeks and i forgot that it includes a coolant flush and fill too.

job done today nice and easy for about $75 all up. better than the $220 plus labour from the dealer. the car now sits on 2 or 3 bars when doing 60kph+, rather than being off the scale(cold)

Where did you end up sourcing the assembly from, Simon?

    Default Coolant

Hi-Extremely important to flush all coolant before replacing it with new-EVEN IF IT THE SAME BRAND.
I believe that it would be o.k. to use the same batch no. if available.

Can you please flesh out that remark with actual examples of the outcomes from failing to observe such rigours, observed by you or your peers?
